Dante Chachere threw for four touchdowns - all coming in the second quarter - and Portland State rallied past Northern Colorado for a 35-21 win on Saturday. Trailing 14-0 after the first, Chachere threw scoring passes of 64 and 37 yards to Mataio Talalem otu, 12 yards to Jobi Malary and 38 to Maclain Griffin. Talalemotu finished with 103 yards receiving on three receptions.Chacehere threw for 269 yards. Dylan McCaffrey got Northern Colorado rolling with 67-yard scoring pass to Zain Zinicola for th e game's first score then, near the end of the first, Elijah Dotson crashed in from a yard out for a two-score lead. McCaffrey threw for 328 yards and was intercepted twice. Zinicola had 119 receiving yards on 11 receptions. Portland State (4-5, 3-3 Big Sky) has won four of its last six after a three-game skid to start the season. The Bears (2-7, 1-5) have dropped five straight. - Portland State/AP College Football

Dante Chachere ran for two touchdowns and threw for a third and Portland State raced to a big lead before holding off Eastern Washington 38-35 on Saturday. The Vikings (3-5, 2-3 Big Sky Conference), who finished with 628 yards of offense, raced to a 35-7 halftime lead by scoring on their first four drives and five of six. The Eagles (2-6, 1-4), who finished with 564 yards, rallied back with with four touchdowns on six drives after the break. Chachere opened the scoring with a 51-yard burst, added an 8-y ard TD run and capped the half with a 9-yard pass to Beau Kelly in the final minute.Chachere finished 17-of-22 passing for 201 yards and kept the ball 14 times for a career-high 141 yards rushing. Jobi Malary carried 19 times for 148 yards. Easter n Washington, limited to Justice Jackson's 62-yard TD run in the first half, raced back behind Gunner Talkington. Talkington was 36-of-60 passing for 394 yards and three touchdowns. Freddie Roberson had nine catches for 145 yards and a score. Gianni Smit h kicked a 40-yard field goal for the Vikings in the middle of EWU's four touchdowns and that was the difference. After Talkington's final scoring pass with 3:49 to play, Elias Spence recovered an onside kick and Portland State ran out the clock with a s even-play, 35-yard drive. Chachere had a breakout game this past Saturday, as the Portland State quarterback amassed over 400 yards of total offense and five touchdowns to lead the Vikings to a 34-27 win over Northern Arizona. The sophomore passed for 274 yards and three touchdowns, while earning 128 yards rushing and two scores to closeout his day. Dante Chachere threw four of his five touchdown passes in the second quarter and Portland State routed NCAA Division II/III member Lincoln University (California), 48-6 on Saturday. Lincoln, from Oakland, California, started its football program in 2021 and is in its first season as a member of the NCAA. Chachere ran nine yards for a first-quarter touchdown, then threw five touchdown passes in an 18-minute span that covered the second quarter and was capped by a 3-yard toss to Tanner Beaman with 12:24 l eft in the third quarter that made it 41-0. Chachere hit Maclaine Griffin from 23-yard out, found Mataio Talaemotu with back-to-back throws of 32- and 29-yards and back-to-back throws to Beaman, including a 14-yarder to cap first-half scoring. Chachere w as 14 of 29 for 280 yards with an interception for the Vikings (2-3). The Oaklanders (0-5) had 234 yards of offense. Dante Chachere had 402 yards from scrimmage and accounted for all five Portland State touchdowns in the Vikings' 35-28 victory over Northern Arizona on Saturday. Chachere was 22-of-28 passing for 274 yards and he had 128 rushing yards on 12 carries. Chac here threw three touchdown passes, including a 66-yarder to Mataio Talalemotu, and his two touchdowns runs included a 72-yard scamper. The TD to Talalemotu early in the fourth quarter gave the Vikings a 35-13 lead that would prove to be just one touchdow n too many for the Lumberjacks to overcome.The Lumberjacks rallied on a 1-yard run by RJ Martinez and a 10-yard pass from Martinez to Stacy Chukwumezie. Like Chachere, Martinez accounted for all of his team's touchdowns, including a 53-yard pass t o Chukwumezie early in the fourth quarter. Chukwumezie's second touchdown catch, with 4:12 remaining, would be the last the NAU offense would see of the ball.
