  Kayvon Britten rushed for 164 yards and Victor Gabalis passed for 140 yards and a touchdown, leading Tarleton State to a 26-23 victory over McNeese in a nail-biting season-opener on Saturday. After leading 26-7 at halftime, the Texans managed 19 yards on four possessions in the third quarter and a 63-yard drive in the fourth ended with a missed field goal. Meanwhile, McNeese scored on a 7-yard run by D'Angelo Durham early in the fourth quarter and Tarleton's lead was 26-23 after an 80-yard touchdown pass from the Cowboys' Clifton McDowell to Matthew McCallister.

The Cowboys would have one last chance to take the lead, taking possession at their own 11 with 2:56 remaining. McDowell had completions of 23 and 22 yards and ran for another 11, leading McNeese to the Tarleton 27-yard line with 10 seconds left. On third down, Tyler Larco missed a 44-yard field goal attempt. Gabalis completed 11 of 18 passes for Tarleton and McNeese's McDowell went 13 of 19 for 242 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.   Kayvon Britten ran for three touchdowns, including a game-winner with 49 seconds left in the fourth quarter, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff beat Alabama State 19-14 on Thursday. Britten carried it 28 times for 160 yards for UAPB (3-8, 1-7 SWAC). His 7-yard touchdown opened the scoring in the first quarter and his 11-yarder made it 13-0 early in the second quarter. He capped a nine-play, 72-yard drive with a 14-yard TD in the closing seconds. Dematrius Davis was 18-of-30 passing for 272 yards with an interception for Alabama State (6-5, 4-4).   OCT 17 SWAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Arkansas-Pine Bluff's Kayvon Britten rushed for 277 yards on 32 carries to go along with four rushing touchdowns during UAPB's contest against Alabama A&M. He currently leads the conference in total rushing yards (754), rushing touchdowns (12), and ranks fourth in yards per rushing attempt (6.2). This also marks the second time this season Britten has rushed for over 225 yards in a single game. - SWAC Football

  Kayvon Britten rushed for 237 yards and three touchdowns and Arkansas-Pine Bluff held on to defeat Division II Lane College 48-42 on Saturday night. The Golden Lions led throughout the second half but never by more than two scores. Jalen Macon's 31-yard touchdown pass to Raequan Prince put UAPB up 48-35 late in the third quarter. Lane closed to within 48-42 early in the fourth when Michae Huntley hit O'Joshu Bunton with a 49-yard touchdown pass. After UAPB missed a short field goal with 5:02 remaining, Huntley led the Dragons to midfield but was sacked on a fourth-down play. UAPB then drove to the 1-yard line before letting the clock run out. Skyler Perry was 16-of-27 passing for 222 yards and one touchdown for UAPB. Macon was 3-for-5 passing for 45 yards and the touchdown to Prince. Huntley completed 15 of 21 passes for 328 yards and three touchdowns for Lane. He was sacked four times.
