2022 ALL-SWAC FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM: Running Back Sy'Veon Wilkerson, Jackson State,...Wilkerson moved into starting lineup in the third game of the season and powered the JSU rushing attack to new heights, rushing for 1,039 yards on 197 carries (5.3 avg.) with eight touchdowns and catching 17 passes for 117 yards and one touchdown. His 1,000-yard rushing season is the 12th in school history and the first since 1999. NOV 7 SWAC NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: Jackson State's Sy'Veon Wilkerson rushed for a career-high 214 yards to go along with two touchdowns during Jackson State's 41-14 win over Texas Southern. He contributed scoring runs of three and 41 yards in the first qua rter to power Jackson State to an early lead. It was Wilkerson's third 100+ yard rushing game of the season, and his second two-rushing TD game of the season. Sy'veon Wilkerson ran for 116 yards and a touchdown and Jackson State defeated Campbell 22-14 on Saturday in a nonconference matchup. The Tigers (7-0) ranked sixth in the FCS coaches poll, led 9-7 at the half on three Alejandro Mato field goals and exten ded that early in the third quarter when Shedeur Sanders connected with D.J. Stevens for a 48-yard touchdown. Wilkerson's 4-yad run, capping an eight-play, 81-yard drive with 3:17 left, clinched the game. Sanders was 23-of-31 passing for 233 yards.
