  The University at Buffalo football team will kick off its 2023 Mid-American Conference schedule during the second week of conference play, but will also play in four midweek games in the final four weeks of the regular season. The MAC released its football schedule Wednesday morning, and the Bulls will open their conference schedule Sept. 30 at Akron, then host Central Michigan on Oct. 7 at UB Stadium. The MAC will open its conference schedule with two games Sept. 23: Ohio at Bowling Green and Western Michigan at Toledo. The Bulls are playing four nonconference games in the first four weeks of the season: the season opener Sept. 2 at Wisconsin, its home opener Sept. 9 at UB Stadium against FCS opponent Fordham, Sept. 15 against Liberty and Sept. 23 at Louisiana. - Buffalo News

  2022 ALL-MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM: Defensive Back - Marcus Fuqua, Buffalo,...Fuqua is having a breakout season for the Bulls. The junior safety has five interceptions on the year which leads the MAC and ranks seventh nationally, one shy of the leaders. He has added 53 tackles, five pass breakups and two fumble recoveries. Following his three-interception performance against Toledo, he was named the Bronko Nagurski National Player of the Week. - Buffalo Football

  OCT 24 MAC EAST DIVISION DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Marcus Fuqua, Buffalo, Safety, Junior, Southfield, MI (Southfield A&T),...Marcus Fuqua tied an FBS-era program record with three interceptions against Toledo on Saturday. He played a key role in sparking a comeback win over the Rockets. After making his first interception at the end of the second quarter, the junior safety made two interceptions in the fourth quarter that led to points and helped the Bulls rally from a 17-point deficit. His second interception led to the Bulls' go-ahead touchdown. His third interception led to a UB field goal with 47 seconds left that extended the lead to seven points and help ice the game for the Bulls. Fuqua added four tackles in the game. - MAC Football
