2022 PRESEASON RAY GUY WATCHLIST: Jacob Barnes - Louisiana Tech,...Barnes (5-9, 193) enters his redshirt junior season as a dual threat kicker, punter. Last season (2021) he was a perfect 39-for-39 in PATs and made multiple PATs in nine games including t wo, 6-6 efforts against Southeastern (Sept. 11) and Charlotte (Nov. 13). Finished the season 17-for-21 in field goals, connecting on 80.95 percent of his kicks, including 12-13 within 40 yards and a season-long of 47 yards. Also added 19 kickoffs (44.1-y ard average). In 2020 Barnes was a perfect 33-for-33 in PATs, including a career-best 9-for-9 against HBU (Nov. 26). Opened the season with eight straight made field goals, including a career-long 51-yarder against HBU. He scored 13 of Louisiana Tech's 19 points against Southern Miss with a 4-for-4 FG game. 2020 LOU GROZA COLLEGIATE PLACE-KICKER AWARD NATIONAL SEMIFINALIST: Jacob Barnes - Louisiana Tech,...Barnes, a native of Baton Rouge, La., has earned both Conference USA and Louisiana Sports Writers Association Special Teams Player of the Week honors twi ce this season. He opened the 2020 campaign with eight straight made field goals which was the most makes to open a season by a Bulldog since Matt Nelson in 2012. Barnes made four field goals in the loss at UTSA (Oct. 24) to become the only C-USA kicker and one of 20 kickers in the nation to have made four field goals in a single-game this season.He made the game-winning 35-yard field in the double overtime victory over UAB (Oct. 31). He is currently 10-for-11 in field goals this season, includin g a career-long 51 yarder against Houston Baptist (Sept. 26). Barnes has not missed an extra point attempt this season as he is 32-for-32 in PATs, including a career-high 9-for-9 against Houston Baptist (Sept. 26). NOV 2 CONFERENCE USA SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Louisiana Tech redshirt freshman K/P Jacob Barnes made the game-winning 35-yard field goal in double-overtime in the 37-34 LA Tech comeback victory over UAB. He made three of four field goal attempt s in the game, including one in each overtime period to secure the win. Barnes was perfect in extra point attempts against the Blazers, making all four point after kicks to remain perfect in PATs this season. He also punted the ball six times for an aver age of 42.5 yards against UAB, including a career-long 53 yard punt, and placed three punts inside the UAB 20. This is the second Special Teams Player of the Week award for Barnes this season. This is the first time that one school has won all three awar ds since North Texas did it on Sept. 17, 2018. - Conference USA Football
