  12/27/23 - ILB Mohamed TourerSr/2025, Rutgers, 6-1, 236 (DS#999 ILB) + More +

2023 ALL-BIG TEN HONORABLE MENTION: Mohamed Toure,...Toure returned to the field after missing last season to play all 12 games and is second on the defense with 85 tackles, including a team-high 7.5 for loss and 3.5 sacks. He posted a career-high 11 stops versus Maryland and had an interception against Ohio State. The linebacker from Pleasantville, New Jersey, was previously named to the Comeback Player of the Year watch list and earns All-Big Ten recognition for the first time. - Rutgers Football

  06/15/22 - ILB Mohamed TourerSr/2025, Rutgers, 6-1, 236 (DS#999 ILB) + More +

Mohamed Toure is officially out for the fall. Speaking to reporters at his charity golf outing in Bedminster on Monday, Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano confirmed that the fourth-year defensive end will miss the 2022 season after having surgery to repair an injury he suffered during spring camp. "Mo had surgery, so he is going to be out for the year," Schiano said. "Which is sad but he's going to rehab, he's got a tremendous attitude and we'll see him in 2023." Suspected in the moment and now confirmed, the injury is a devastating blow to a Rutgers defense that lost another linebacker for the year when four-star freshman Moses Walker tore an ACL in practice in the spring.

Toure, who led the Scarlet Knights with 4.5 sacks in both the 2020 and 2021 seasons, was poised to be a key piece on a promising defensive line. The unit brings back veteran defensive tackles Mayan Ahanotu and Ifeanyi Maijeh and emerging young players like Aaron Lewis, Kyonte Hamilton and Cam'Ron Stewart while adding highly-touted defensive end prospects Q'yaeir Price and Kenny Fletcher from its 2022 recruiting class. - Star Ledger

  12/04/20 - ILB Mohamed TourerSr/2025, Rutgers, 6-1, 236 (DS#999 ILB) + More +

Mohamed Toure makes the most of his time. The Rutgers linebacker and situational pass rusher had a game-changing interception in last Saturday's win at Purdue. He also had two sacks and two forced fumbles in the Scarlet Knights' season-opening win at Michigan State. And he's been a standout special teams contributor all fall. It's not easy to have a star-like impact while playing a backup's snap count. But if the Pleasantville native keeps it up, he won't be one much longer. "I think Mohamed is growing leaps and bounds as a football player," coach Greg Schiano said. "He's learning about the game of football."

Toure was a three-star recruit in high school who stayed committed to the Scarlet Knights after Wisconsin made a late push. He enrolled early ahead of the 2019 season, but only played in two games last season and redshirted. "It gave me time to watch and think, understand the game a little," he said. "It gave me time to develop my body and grow physically and mentally." Schiano credited linebackers coach Bob Fraser for building a strong relationship with Toure and fostering his development, as well as the veteran players ahead of him on the depth chart. Toure has made significant strides from a mental standpoint, Schiano said. "He's always been a tremendous athlete, a big man that can run very well," he said. "But there is a game within a game that most people don't know exist, but if you're going to be a really good player you are going to understand that game. Little by little he's understanding it, and it's fun to watch." - Star Ledger
