A grand jury in Fayette County, Kentucky, has declined to indict six University of Kentucky football players on first-degree burglary charges. The charges were brought last month following a police investigation of an incident last March at a private par ty. Lexington police arrested Reuben Adams, Robert McClain, Devito Tisdale, Joel Williams, Earnest Sanders IV and Andru Phillips on Aug. 19. Tisdale was also charged with first-degree wanton endangerment for allegedly pointing a gun at one of the victims . All six second-year players pleaded not guilty on Aug. 20 and later waived their cases to a state grand jury, which dismissed the charges on Tuesday. The wanton endangerment charge against Tisdale was also dismissed. The Lexington Herald-Leader first r eported the grand jury's decision. - AP College Football

University of Kentucky football player Vito Tisdale, one of six players on the team charged in Fayette County, is currently on probation for an unrelated charge in his hometown. Tisdale on July 28 pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana in Warren Count y District Court. Marijuana possession in Kentucky is a Class B misdemeanor subject to jail time of up to 45 days, to which Tisdale was sentenced. That sentencing was probated for 24 months. The guilty plea was in response to a July 2 citation. Acc ording to the citation, Tisdale "disregarded the stop sign at the intersection" of two streets in Bowling Green. "Upon making contact with Tisdale" an officer wrote, "I detected the strong odor of marijuana coming from his vehicle. I also observed mariju ana shake in his lap." A probable cause search was conducted, resulting in the discovery of a "bud of marijuana" in the cup holder of Tisdale's vehicle. He was cited and released. On Thursday, Tisdale was one of six UK players charged in Fayette County w ith burglary stemming from a March 6 incident at a private residence. Additionally, Tisdale was charged with wanton endangerment. - Herald Leader

Six University of Kentucky football players have been charged with first-degree burglary, with one also accused of first degree wanton endangerment, following the investigation of an incident last March at a private party. The Lexington Police Department said in a release Thursday that offensive lineman Reuben Adams, running back Robert McClain, defensive back Andru Phillips, receiver Earnest Sanders IV, safety Devito Tisdale and defensive back Joel Williams were charged with first-degree burglary. Tisd ale also was charged with wanton endangerment for allegedly pointing a gun at one of the victims. The players face arraignment Friday in Fayette County District Court. Wildcats coach Mark Stoops said in a statement that he was aware of the current situat ion and that the program had been aware of the matter since March. The program withheld players from team activities while a student conduct review was held and returned to activity in June based on the outcome. - AP College Football

Only two true freshman made the Kentucky football team's initial depth chart for the 2020 season. One was quarterback Beau Allen, a clear No. 2 to Terry Wilson with Joey Gatewood's eligibility status still uncertain. The other? From a herd of talented de fensive backs, veteran and new to the program alike, safety Vito Tisdale has emerged. He's listed as the backup to Davonte Robinson at nickelback heading into UK's game at Auburn this weekend. It wasn't exactly a surprise to see Tisdale's name on the dep th chart, as he was lauded frequently throughout camp by coaches and peers, but it was confirmation that that praise wasn't just lip-service. Kentucky believes Tisdale can play right away in the Southeastern Conference, and he'll probably get a chance to prove himself as soon as Saturday.Head coach Mark Stoops during one of his preseason radio shows likened him to a former Wildcats defensive back who wore the same jersey number: Mike Edwards, now a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. "He's wearin g number 7 and I don't want to put that on him yet but he reminds me of the other guy that wore 7 for us," Stoops told Tom Leach. "That's a pretty big compliment. Mike is one of my all-time favorite players. So instinctual and such a good player for us. ... It's a lot like Mike. No nonsense and just goes and does his business." In that radio interview, Stoops said Tisdale was playing in multiple positions across the secondary, giving it a go wherever the coaches asked. On Monday, during his first "in-se ason" news conference, Stoops suggested that the staff might have put too much on Tisdale in camp and that he looked forward to having him hone in on a single position in practice this week. - Herald Leader
