Few players in Oregon's front seven are in line for a potential jump in production and playing time as Bradyn Swinson. The second-year freshman edge defender had three tackles last season, but has spent the offseason overwhelmingly with the first-team de fense in a variety of roles. "This week at practice (he) was probably the player that took the biggest jump of anybody at any position," Oregon coach Mario Cristobal said. "That's Bradyn Swinson; he did it the run game setting edges, he did it in the run game taking on double teams, which when you're a freshman and you're an edge player that's one of the most difficult things that you have to do. When you're called upon to do that and you've never done it before, at least not with guys that know what th ey're doing (and) where they're going, it's very difficult. He did a great job with that. As a pass rusher he continues to progress more and more and more."The 6-foot-4 Swinson arrived at UO in the spring of 2020 before the pandemic halted practic es. He said he weighed around 280 pounds, which he's since cut to 245 (Oregon listed his weight as 269 pounds last fall and 234 now for the same overall drop). "It was a grind but I also want to show appreciation to my teammates and my strength staff bec ause they took time in, they told me if I do this this will be a big step for you," Swinson said. "I really appreciate them for that and I listened and they got me into a better spot to where I'm at now...I feel great out there. I was like, 'Ooh, I can m ove a little bit more than I used to." - The Oregonian
