2023 ALL-BIG TEN HONORABLE MENTION: Mason Richman,...Rusty Feth is an honorable-mention All-Big Ten selection after earning second-team All-MAC honors in 2022. Feth, Dunker and Mason Richman each earned honorable mention recognition. Feth started seven games in his first season in Iowa City, while Dunker and Richman were mainstays at right tackle and left tackle, respectively. The Hawkeyes rushed for 200 yards at Wisconsin - the most since 2008 - and the rushing attack put up 179 yards against Rutgers and 163 at Nebraska against two top-10 rushing defenses. - Iowa Football

2022 ALL-BIG TEN FOOTBALL HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): Mason Richman,...Richman started all 12 games at left tackle as the veteran among Iowa's young offensive line. He has 21 career starts, all at left tackle. He saw action in three games as a true freshman in 2020 and was still able to redshirt. - Iowa Football

No position group dealt with the confluence of injuries, attrition and inexperience quite as much as the offensive line last year. Last summer, it appeared Iowa might have the best interior line nationally with center Tyler Linderbaum starting alongside guards Kyler Schott and Cody Ince. Schott then broke his foot jumping off a hay baler one week before preseason camp, and injuries hampered Ince so badly that he chose to retire this offseason. Linderbaum, of course, won the Rimington Award as the nation's top center and was an Outland Trophy finalist. Last fall, the Hawkeyes plugged in redshirt freshman Mason Richman at left tackle and Connor Colby set the program mark for starts by a true freshman lineman with 11 at right guard.

Right tackle constantly was in flux between Jack Plumb and Nick DeJong. The shuffling hampered the running game until the Citrus Bowl, when the Hawkeyes rushed for a season-best 5.8 yards per carry and 175 yards. "We were hanging on up front with Cody out, and you got Shooter in and out," Kirk Ferentz said. "I think we're really a different group, and I thought … the most improvement we made as a team probably was up front on both sides by November. We can always get better, but I think we're on the right path." Richman and Colby - now sophomores - are borderline fixtures at their current spots. - The Athletic

Looking back, Mason Richman views his redshirt freshman year at Iowa as a roller-coaster experience. He found himself in a rare position - a freshman at Iowa starting on the offensive line and at a premier position: left tackle. Richman enjoyed the highs of starting for a Big Ten West champion team but also went through expected growing pains as a young player competing against elite competition weekly. Entering this season he's still using the day-by-day approach that got him through last season but feels much more comfortable this summer.

"I think this year I have a better understanding of what I need to do as a person and athlete on this team," Richman said. "Just to help the team in general instead of a lot of the self-minded mindset last year of just trying to play and get on the field and everything. So I think this year I've certainly taken more of a team mindset because if I can help myself and others around me, those others around me will also bring me up in my own play and make me look a little bit better sometimes." Richman's maturation as a leader will be just as important as his play on the field. Despite his sophomore eligibility, he has the most career starts among Iowa's current offensive line group with 12. Another sophomore, guard Connor Colby, has 11. - Iowa City Press-Citizen
