A reserve Michigan defensive back who entered the transfer portal last month has decided on his next stop. Jordan Morant, who appeared in eight games over two seasons for the Wolverines, announced his commitment to Duke University on Saturday. In a post on social media, Morant wrote "back to work" to accompany a graphic announcing his commitment. The 6-foot, 210-pound safety was an academic all-Big Ten selection but never found his footing early on in Ann Arbor. He redshirted as a freshman in 2020, then spent a bulk of his eight appearances in 2021 on special teams. There was a belief that Morant would work his way into the rotation this year, especially with Michigan losing both of its starters from last season. But the Parisppany, N.J., elected to enter the portal in April after the team concluded spring practice. At Duke, Morant will have three years of eligibility remaining and figures to get an opportunity to play a bigger role. The former four-star recruit was a top-200 prospect in 2020, a nd considered a top-five player in the state of New Jersey. - Ann Arbor News
