Tommy Guajardo, Bowling Green, Player News

Since Bowling Green State University football coach Scot Loeffler was Boston College's offensive coordinator, he has kept a close watch on Tommy Guajardo. Boston College was the first Power Five program Guajardo received an offer from when he was a junior at Dearborn High School. When Loeffler took over the Falcons football program in 2019, he heavily recruited the tight end to BG's program. Eventually, Guajardo made the decision to commit to Michigan State University. He redshirted the 2020 season with the Spartans and participated in spring practice earlier this year. Two days after the spring season ended, Guajardo entered the transfer portal. Ten days later, he announced his commitment to BGSU.

"[Loeffler] was the first guy to hit me up when I entered the portal," Guajardo said. "And he [said] I can make an immediate impact. I'll play right away. He knows how good I can play at my position." A few other Mid-American Conference schools reached out to Guajardo, including Kent State and Eastern Michigan, but none of the other programs compared to BG. It was Loeffler's constant pursuit of Guajardo from his junior year at Dearborn to the present that helped him make the quick decision to join the Falcons. "I really do think that the connection that we have is really important," Guajardo said. "They keep coming back. At high school, they keep evaluating me, always come back to say hi to me, always calling me and texting me. I really do think that the connection is really important to me, and trust, too." - Toledo Blade
