2022 PRESEASON ROTARY LOMBARDI AWARD WATCHLIST: Tyler Grubbs, Louisiana Tech, So LB,...Grubbs, a two-time All-Conference USA and All-Louisiana selection has started all 22 of his games as a Bulldog and led the team in total tackles (99 and 97) in each of his first two seasons. The 247Sports freshman All-American selection finished in the top five last season in C-USA tackles per game (8.1) and also led the team in tackles for loss (10.0) while registering a season-high 13 tackles against SMU. Grubbs was also recently named first-team preseason All-CUSA by Athlon Sports and collected second-team CUSA honors from Phil Steele. The New Orleans, La., native has been one of the best linebackers in the nation since bursting onto the scene in 2020. His career mark of 8.91 tackles per game ranks second nationally among all active players. He is also among the FBS active career leaders in solo tackles per game, ranking 19th with 4.05. - Louisiana Tech Football

2021 ALL-CONFERENCE USA SECOND TEAM (COACHES): LB: Tyler Grubbs, So., Louisiana Tech,...Grubbs led the Bulldogs with 97 tackles this season, including 10 tackles for loss for minus 38 yards. The "Covid Freshman" had 44 solo tackles, 53 assisted tackles, 2.0 sacks (for minus 24 yards), four pass breakups, three quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Conference USA has announced its 2020 All-Freshman football team, as selected by the league's head football coaches. Louisiana Tech and Middle Tennessee each produced a league-high five players on the team, while North Texas and UTSA both had four player s selected to the squad. All told, 11 C-USA teams were represented on the all-freshman squad. Louisiana Tech had an offensive lineman, two linebackers, a defensive back and a kicker selected. Left tackle Dakota White represents the OL, while LB's Tyler G rubbs (league-leading 9.7 tackles per game) and Maki Carabin are joined by CB Cedric Woods (29 tackles, two interceptions) as defensive players on the unit. Jacob Barnes, who also punted, made the squad as a placekicker after going 11-of-13 on field goal s while making all 33 of his PATs. - Conference USA Football
