Poised for a 2022 standout season: DL JH Tevis, senior. The Hoosiers need to punch up their play after finishing last in the league in sacks. California transfer J.H. Tevis has impressed coaches this spring with his playmaking ability on the field and his leadership intangibles off the field. The 6-foot-4, 281-pound Tevis posted three sacks and 8.5 tackles in three seasons with the Golden Bear s. "His work ethic is off the chart," Randolph said. "He loves playing football. That is evident when you see him in practice every day. His thing, also, is 'I am going to be high energy, practice hard, work hard and I will show you how we do things." - Herald Bulletin

Tom Allen went into the offseason believing the Hoosiers needed a lot more length and girth in the front of the defense and he went out and got that. In Patrick Lucas and LeDarrius Cox, he brought in two 300-pound plus tackles from Ole Miss to work with returners Demarcus Elliott and Sio Nofoagatoto'a in the interior. Dominick James, a 6-2, 293-pound freshman from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. who had offers from Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State among other powerhouses, has proven to be a playmaker in t he early going and could be an immediate part of the defensive tackle rotation. The best bet to start immediately, though, is California transfer JH Tevis. The defensive end role is open with Ryder Anderson out of eligibility after one season with the Ho osiers in which he finished second on the team in both sacks and tackles for loss. The 6-4, 281-pound Tevis doesn't bring the same length as the 6-6 Anderson, but he could also bring some pass rush skill and ability to set the edge. The coaching staff ha s also been impressed by the leadership of Tevis, who picked IU so he could pursue an MBA in the Kelley School of Business. - Indianapolis Star/News
