2022 PRESEASON FCS PUNTER OF THE YEAR WATCH LIST: Matt Rigney, Austin Peay,...Redshirted at Middle Tennessee in 2019 and transferred to Austin Peay in 2020 and finished that season with four 50-plus yard kicks, two 60-plus yard kicks, nine punts downed i nside the 20-yard line, and just one touchback... Averaged 36.31 yards per punt on 35 attempts. Last year Rigney was Second Team All-OVC selection, punted 55 times, averaging 40.73 yards per kick - the fifth-best mark in program history… Punted seven t imes in the season opener at Chattanooga (Sept. 2), with three punts downed within the 20… Punted eight times, averaging 46.63 yards per boot against Tennessee State (Oct. 2). 2021 OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE SECOND-TEAM (COACHES): P - Matt Rigney, Austin Peay,...Rigney became just the third Governors punter to average more than 40 yards per punt over a season, his 40.73 yards per punt ranking fifth on the program's single-season l ist. His 40.84 punting average in league play was second-best among the league's punters. Among his 55 punts, he saw 14 downed inside the 20-yard line, and seven go for 50-plus yards, including a 60-yarder against Tennessee State. His 46.63 punting avera ge against the Tigers wasn't his best average of the year, but the outing saw him boom an impressive three 50-yard kicks out of the eight he attempted that day. - Austin Peay Football
