On the first day new Bearcats coach Scott Satterfield's recruiting department was announced, the new staffers raided the Valley of the Sun for a pair of transfers, bringing the number of former Arizona State Sun Devils on the roster to three. Quarterback Emory Jones, who played one year in Tempe and was previously was a Florida Gator, was already here. By Monday afternoon, teammates Carter Brown and D.J. Taylor had joined him.A 5-foot-10 cornerback from Tampa Catholic High in Florida, he has been at Arizona State three seasons and is a redshirt junior. His specialty has been returning kicks as he's averaged 24.5 yards over his three years. That includes a 100-yard return for a touchdown his freshman year. He also has averaged 9.1 yards on punt r eturns. Defensively, he had 16 tackles this past season and one tackle for loss. - Cincinnati Enquirer

Pierce, also ASU's recruiting coordinator, said freshman D.J. Taylor was recruited out of metro Tampa, Florida, because of his athleticism and position versatility. Taylor was something of a revelation against UCLA with 115 yards on kickoff return. "He's tremendously gifted," Pierce said. "You turn on the highlight tape, you'll see him doing everything - quarterback, running back, wildcat, receiver, special teams. He can play multiple positions. He started off at defensive back for us and as talented as we are in that running back room, we thought he could would help us there as well. "In game 2 (UCLA), he showed everybody what he has. He has elite speed, a knack to find his way through holes. He's not a small guy (5-11, 195). He's what we want to do a s a program, having athletes who can play different positions." - Arizona Republic
