 Nick Semptimphelter, Bucknell, Player News


  Nick Semptimphelter threw for a touchdown and ran for another and Bucknell rallied in the second half to beat Marist 24-13 on Saturday in a non-conference, season-ending game for both teams. Down 13-3 at halftime, Semptimphelter threw a 2-yard scoring pass to Rushawn Baker with 5:02 left in the third quarter. Semptimphelter ran it in from 10 yards out early in the fourth and Baker closed it out with a 6-yard touchdown run. Amin Woods ran for two touchdowns and 93 yards for Marist (4-7). Bucknell (3-8) finished with a two-game win streak, the first time the Bison have won back-to-back contests since their abbreviated spring season in 2020.   Matt Schearer made a 19-yard field goal with 18 seconds left and Bucknell won its first game of the season with a 19-17 victory over Lehigh on Saturday. Trailing 17-10, Nick Semptimphelter found Marques Owens on a deep ball to get to the 2-yard line and Rushawn Baker punched it in before the extra point was blocked. The Bison recovered the onside kick to get it back at the Lehigh 47 and Semptimphelter connected on another deep ball to Charlie Kreinbucher, setting up Schearer's make. Semptimphelter was 13 of 28 for 146 yards and Baker had two touchdowns. Bucknell (1-6, 1-2 Patriot) led 7-3 at halftime despite just two first downs and 38 total yards. The Bison defense forced three turnovers in the second quarter, with Alex Smith Jr. and Brent Jackson each intercepting a pass from different Lehigh quarterbacks. Smith's interception led to a 3-yard touchdown run by Baker. Dante Perri was 19 of 34 for 160 yards for Lehigh (1-7, 1-2). Geoffrey Jamiel had nine catches for 70 yards. - AP College Football

  Nick Semptimphelter threw a touchdown pass 36 seconds into the final quarter and added a 2-yard scoring run with 8:24 left to play to rally Bucknell to its first win of the season with a 21-10 victory over Cornell in nonconference play on Saturday. Cornell led 7-0 after the first quarter on Delonte Harrell's 3-yard TD run. The Bison (1-3) pulled even in the second quarter on Tyler Beverett's 1-yard scoring run. Scott Lees' 27-yard field goal was the only scoring in the third quarter, giving the Big Red (0-3) a 10-7 lead. Semptimphelter put Bucknell up for good early in the final quarter with a 4-yard TD toss to Christian Spugnardi and then wrapped up the win with 2-yard scoring run with 8:24 left to play. Semptimphelter completed 10 of 15 passes for 85 yards in relief of Beverett. Beverett was 6-of-9 passing for 61 yards. Ben Mays completed 19 of 28 passes for 256 yards with two interceptions in a start for Cornell. Backup Richie Kenney was 5-of-11 passing for 50 yards with one pick. - AP College Football
