The Oregon Ducks are adding a veteran safety. Former Fresno State safety Evan Williams, the younger brother of former Oregon safety Bennett Williams, committed to transfer to the Ducks on Tuesday. Williams, who has one season of eligibility remaining, recorded 69 tackles, six tackles for loss, a sack and four pass breakups for the Bulldogs in 10 games last season. In 39 career games, he has 228 tackles with 11 for loss, a sack, four interceptions, 14 pass breakups and four forced fumbles. - The Oregonian

Fresno State safety Evan Williams went through Senior Day activities before the Bulldogs' final home game, though he can return in 2023 with an extra year of eligibility available due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He said before that game he had not made a decision, but this likely will be his final game with the Bulldogs, along with a group that includes quarterback Jake Haener, defensive end David Perales, wideouts Jalen Moreno-Cropper, Nikko Remigio and Zane Pope and running back Jordan Mims.

If it is, defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle gave him something to add to the NFL resume. Coyle, a former coordinator with the Miami Dolphins, was asked if Williams is an NFL-caliber safety. "There's no question," Coyle said. "Evan has all the attributes you look for in a safety. I've coached a lot of years in the NFL and coached some really good players, and Evan has the combination of the physical tools and the mental makeup that you really look for at that level. One day I expect to be sitting on the couch watching Evan do his thing at he next level, but certainly we're real pleased at the way he's performing for us here." - Fresno Bee

Evan Williams made two of Fresno State's four interceptions and Wyoming turned the ball over five times as the Bulldogs blanked Wyoming 17-0 on Saturday. Wyoming (4-2, 0-2 Mountain West Conference) was shut out for the first time since being blanked 45-0 by TCU in 2010. The shutout was the second for the Bulldogs (4-3, 1-2) this year, having beaten UConn 45-0 in their season opener, but the first on the road since Nov. 2, 1974, 41-0 over Cal State Northridge. The Bulldogs were slightly outgained by the Cowboys but scored all their points off turnovers, the three scoring drives covering a total of only 50 yards.

The longest of the scoring drives - 41 yards - came after Sean Chambers fumbled on a keeper which led to Jake Haener's 2-yard TD toss to Juan Rodriguez for the only points of the first half. Malachi Langley picked off a tipped pass and returned it 33 yards to the Wyoming 6 and three plays later Haener threw a 3-yard TD pass to Jalen Cropper late in the third quarter. Williams returned another Chambers interception 14 yards to the Cowboys 27 with Cesar Silva kicking a 41-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. Fresno State bounced back from a 27-24 loss in its previous game at Hawaii on Oct. 2 that dropped the Bulldogs from the Associated Press Top 25. Chambers threw three of the interceptions along with his lost fumble. - Fresno State/AP College Football
