  Mike DiLiello threw for three touchdowns and 309 yards and CJ Evans Jr. scored twice on the ground as Austin Peay beat Murray State 52-17 in a non-conference matchup on Saturday. Drae McCray caught five passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns and James Burns had 116 yards on 10 receptions with a touchdown. Sheldon Layman came on in relief for DiLiello and completed 6-of-8 passes for 47 yards and between the two completed passes to eight different receivers.

DiLiello threw a 14-yard scoring pass to McCray on Austin Peay's first drive, DiLiello later connected with Burns on a 78-yard scoring play and Evans had a 62-yard scoring run with 54 seconds left before the end of the first quarter for a 21-3 lead. Lucas Maue's 1-yard scoring run brought Murray State within 28-17 with 6:50 before halftime but it never got closer. The Governors (5-2) scored points on 7 of 15 offensive possessions.   Mike DiLiello passed for a touchdown and rushed for 181 yards and three second-half scores as Austin Peay scored 28 unanswered points after halftime to beat Eastern Kentucky 31-20 on Saturday. Austin Peay trailed 20-3 at halftime, including a DiLiello interception that was returned 40 yards for a score by Joseph Sayles. But DiLiello had scoring runs of 39, 7 and 8 yards in the second half to help the Governors take a 24-20 lead with 12:20 left in the fourth. DiLiello's 24-yard connection with Drae McCray capped the scoring with 5:39 left. DiLiello was 17 of 33 for 172 yards passing but he was also intercepted two times. CJ Evans Jr. added 75 yards rushing as Austin Peay (4-1) rushers combined for 326 yards on 52 carries.   Mike DiLiello threw a pair of touchdowns and ran for another and Austin Peay as a team piled up 215 rushing yards in a stifling 28-3 win over Alabama A&M on Saturday. DiLiello misfired on 15-of-22 passing attempts and threw for just 100 yards but was in command on the ground piling up 72 yards and 11 carries. CJ Evans Jr. rushed for 76 yards on 18 carries for Austin Peay. The Governors (3-1) have only surrendered three points in their last three games following a 38-27 loss at Western Kentucky in a season opener. Xavier Lankford threw for 187 yards and Gary Quarles rushed for 83 yards for the Bulldogs (0-3). Alabama A&M led in time of possession 34:50 to 25:10 for Austin Peay. - AP College Football

  Mike DiLiello threw five touchdown passes, including three in the first quarter, and Austin Peay beat Mississippi Valley State 41-0 on Saturday. DiLiello completed 25 of 33 passes for 383 yards - the third highest total in school history. He had 307 yards and all five touchdowns by halftime on 17-of-21 passing as Austin Peay (2-1) took a 41-0 lead into intermission. DiLiello put the Governors on top for good when he hooked up with James Burns for a 56-yard score just 1:33 into the game. He threw a 36-yard scoring strike to Drae McCray at the 4:04 mark and hit Trey Goodman for a 37-yard TD with five seconds left in the first quarter.

DiLiello added scoring tosses of 9 yards to Kellen Stewart and 34 yards to McCrae in the second quarter. He is the fifth Governors quarterback to throw five TD passes in one game. Draylen Ellis set the team record of six in 2020 against Southeast Missouri State. McCray finished with 10 catches for 158 yards for Austin Peay. DiLiello's yardage total trails only Brian Baker's 438 against Virginia-Wise in 1999 and his 426 against Campbellsville in 2001. Jalani Eason completed just 5 of 18 passes for 34 yards with two interceptions for Mississippi Valley State (0-2). The Delta Devils had just 121 yards of offense. - Austin Peay/AP College Football

  Mike DiLiello threw a career-best four touchdown passes and ran for another score to lead Austin Peay to a 63-0 rout of Presbyterian on Saturday night. The Governors extended their program-record to seven straight home opening wins. They scored touchdowns on their first six of seven possessions in the first half. DiLiello capped the first-half scoring with his longest and final scoring pass of the night, a 30-yard loft to Trey Goodman, who caught the pass at the 7 and then dragged two defenders into the end zone. DiLiello was 18-of-27 passing for 254 yards. He opened the scoring with an 8-yard touchdown run. Goodman made four catches that also included a 20-yard TD reception. The freshman quarterback opened up GSC play with 309 yards through the air and two touchdowns. He also ran for 20 yards and a scored a touchdown on the ground. It was his fourth rushing touchdown of the season. He is the first Florida Tech player to win this award since Antwuan Haynes in 2015. - Gulf South Football
