2023 ALL-MISSOURI VALLEY FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM: PK Matthew Cook, Northern Iowa, Sr.,...A native of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Matthew Cook is claiming his fifth All-MVFC First Team honor. Possibly the best kicker to come through FCS football, Cook finished his car eer a perfect 155-155 in PATs with 31 coming this season. He scored 88 total points on the season, the second-highest mark in the MVFC, and became the second player in MVFC history to reach 400 career points. Cook recorded a league-high 1.73 field goals per game and a 90.48 field goal percentage while making the most field goals in the MVFC this season (19) with a long of 50 yards against Indiana State. This season, Cook broke the UNI scoring record set by David Johnson in 2014. - Northern Iowa Football

OCT 17 MISSOURI VALLEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE: PK Matthew Cook, UNI - Cook drilled a pair of field goals from 42 and 19 yards while also hitting 5 PAT attempts in UNI's 41-14 win over Utah Tech. Cook's field goals now give him sole possession of 3rd place in school history in career field goals made (61), passing Brian Wingert (2003-06). He also broke a tie with Wingert and Mack Hoambrecker (2000-02) for career field goal attempts (77). Cook notched one 34-yard field goal late in the second quarter of the Panthe r win, but came through on all 7 of his PAT attempts on a day both the UNI offense and defense rolled into the end zone. His lone field goal at WIU was his 57th made kick of his career, moving him into 3rd all-time in school history past Mackenzie Hoambr ecker (2000-02).
