Joe Mischler threw three touchdown passes and Duquesne rolled to a 33-0 victory over Wagner on Saturday. Duquesne (4-7, 3-4 Northeast Conference) has posted three straight shutout wins over Wagner (1-10, 1-6). The Dukes beat the Seahawks 44-0 last season and 17-0 in 2020. Wagner last scored on Duquesne in a 28-24 victory over the Dukes in 2019. Mischler staked Duquesne to a 7-0 lead after one quarter on an 18-yard touchdown pass to Dwayne Menders Jr.Mischler sandwiched scoring strikes to Nick Leo pold covering 4 yards and a 6-yarder to Billy Lucas around a short field goal by Brian Bruzdewicz and the Dukes led 24-0 at halftime. Freshman Jamario Clements had a 12-yard touchdown run and Andrew Smith kicked a 29-yard field goal - his first of the se ason - in the third quarter to cap the scoring. Mischler finished 9-of-20 passing for 156 yards with two interceptions for Duquesne. Menders caught three passes for 116 yards. Joe Mischler threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns, Billy Lucas rushed for 136 yards and two scores, and Duquesne eased past NAIA member Thomas More 34-17 on Saturday. The Dukes extended their winning streak in home openers to 14 straight games. On the first offensive play of the game, Mischler threw a short pass to Dwayne Menders Jr. and he raced 47 yards. Mischler had 232 yards and a touchdown in the first half as Duquesne led 17-0. Lucas added 78 yards rushing and a touchdown in the half, and the Du kes held Thomas More to five first downs and 43 total yards. Mischler finished 18-of-23 passing and Menders caught eight passes for 165 yards and a touchdown for Duquesne (1-2), which had opened 0-2 for the first time since the 2014 season. The Dukes hav e not had a three-game losing streak since 2019. Blaine Espinosa threw for 62 yards and was intercepted two times for Thomas More. Ohio transfer Joe Mischler threw for two touchdowns and ran for another score as Duquesne began its spring season with a 30-27 victory over Sacred Heart on Sunday. Duquesne went ahead 27-12 with 1:03 left in the third on Mischler's 12-yard pass to Garret t Owens. SHU's Marquez McCray and Julius Chestnut connected on two fourth-quarter touchdowns, but the last came with 15 seconds remaining and the Dukes recovered the onside kick. Mischler was 18-of-26 passing for 231 yards and he carried it eight times f or 63 yards. Owens added 109 yards on the ground, and Bri Bruzdewicz kicked field goals of 20, 33 and 31 yards. McCray passed for 169 yards and two touchdowns for Sacred Heart. Chestnut carried it 22 times for 168 yards and two touchdowns, and he caught two passes for 41 yards and two more scores.
