| Former Tennessee defensive lineman John Mincey announced he is transferring to Arkansas State and will play for former Vols coach Butch Jones. The 6-foot-3, 276-pound Mincey entered the transfer portal on March 5. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. Mincey appeared in 24 games in three years with the Vols, never quite cracking the starting lineup. He played in all 10 games in 2020, amassing eight tackles, a half-tackle for loss and one quarterback hurry. He had five tackles in both 2018 a nd 2019. Mincey, a three-star prospect from Clinch County High in Homerville, Georgia, signed in 2018, as part of former coach Jeremy Pruitt's first signing class. The Vols were able to flip Mincey from Arkansas on National Signing Day. - Knoxville News Sentinel

| Tennessee football's front seven is getting thinner in depth. John Mincey, a junior defensive lineman for the Vols, announced on Friday his intentions to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. He is the 24th Tennessee player to either transfer out, or enter the portal, since the end of the 2020 season. The 6-foot-3, 276-pound Mincey also played some outside linebacker at Tennessee. His departure takes on adding meaning with loss of fellow pass rushers Deandre Johnson, who transferred to Miami, and Kivon Bennet t, who was dismissed after getting arrested. Mincey appeared in 24 games in three years with the Vols, never quite cracking the starting lineup. - Knoxville News Sentinel
