GeorQuarius Spivey, Mississippi State, Player News

For the second time in his college career, tight end Geor'Quarius Spivey will be playing for Mississippi State football. Spivey announced Thursday via social media he is transferring back to MSU after spending the last two seasons at TCU. Spivey started his career in Starkville where he appeared in three games before redshirting in 2018. He made five starts in 24 games across the next two seasons, collecting 14 catches for 153 yards. However, with former coach Mike Leach's Air Raid offense not utilizing a tight end, he transferred out.

He was a 3-star recruit from Ridgewood High School in Monroe, Louisiana, winning a state championship his senior year. Spivey collected three starts in 10 games in 2021, recording just three catches for nine yards. During last season's run to the national title game, Spivey caught 11 catches for 136 yards and a touchdown for the Horned Frogs. Spivey entered the portal in mid-February. With new MSU offensive coordinator Kevin Barbay hired using a tight end, Spivey became an obvious target. - The Clarion Ledger

The Arizona State Sun Devils have added yet another transfer and it comes at a position they have placed an emphasis on in its recent recruiting efforts. The addition is tight end Geor'quarius Spivey of Mississippi State who will have three years of eligibility remaining. He reportedly picked ASU over Auburn, Indiana and Texas Tech. The 6-foot-5, 240-pounder started three games last season and had 11 catches for 121 yards as a wide receiver. His best game came against state rival Mississippi when he managed five catches for 97 yards in a 31-24 loss. Senior Curtis Hodges seemed to be coming into his own at the end of last season at the position although he missed much of spring practice. The Sun Devils also have another transfer there in freshman Jalin Conyers, who came over from Oklahoma although he did not play last season. Conyers took part in spring practice and had some stellar moments. - Arizona Republic
