If not for an injury that cost him the entire 2021 season, Upshaw might have left for the draft this spring. Instead, he will look to prove he is fully healthy in an offense that should make heavy use of the tight end. Kentucky's tight end room is deep, but the 6-foot-6, 246-pound Upshaw has the most well-rounded skillset of the group. No Kentucky tight end has been drafted since Jacob Tamme in 2008. - Courier Journal

Hopes of a revitalized Kentucky football offense have been dealt a significant injury blow with just more than six weeks before the 2021 season opener. Junior tight end Keaton Upshaw could miss the entire 2021 season with an injury suffered in summer con ditioning, UK coach Mark Stoops confirmed during the Wildcats' stop at SEC Media Days Tuesday. Stoops did not provide specifics on the injury but acknowledged it is a significant one. "Traditionally speaking, that is a season-ending injury, but we'll see and we need to confirm that," Stoops said. "I don't have any more news other than that at this point. Saw him this morning. Just feel terrible for him. I know he's very down. He's had a remarkable summer and really has been on point working extremely ha rd, like all of the guys, and really excited about the year. I'm just disappointed for him." Even as Kentucky's passing game struggled to find any momentum last season, Upshaw emerged as one of the team's most promising pass-catchers. He finished the sea son with 16 catches for 198 yards and three touchdowns, but 11 of those catches came in the final five games. - Courier Journal
