  Youngstown State wide receiver Bryce Oliver is returning to the Penguins as a graduate student. He played in all 11 games in 2022 catching 59 passes for 821 yards and 10 touchdowns. Oliver transferred prior to the 2021 season from Kentucky where he played three years. He was the Penguins leading receiver last season. - WFMJ TV21 News, Youngstown

  NOV 21 MISSOURI VALLEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE: WR Bryce Oliver, Youngstown State - Oliver set a school record with 12 receptions, finishing with 145 yards and two touchdowns as the Penguins rallied for a 28-21 win over Southern Illinois on Saturday at Stambaugh Stadium. Oliver scored on touchdown receptions of 48 and seven yards in the fourth quarter as YSU rallied to tie the score from down 21-7. His previous high in receptions was eight and yards was 143. Oliver now has 18 receiving touchdowns in his career to the tie the YSU FCS record. He has 10 touchdowns this season the most by a Penguin since 1983. - Missouri Valley Football

  Mitch Davidson hit Bryce Oliver for a 12-yard touchdown with five seconds left to give Youngstown State a 19-17 win over Illinois State on Saturday. The Penguins (6-3, 4-2 Missouri Valley Conference) had 64 yards of offense in the second half before going 80 yards in eight plays, including a fourth-down conversion, plus a defensive holding penalty. The play before the touchdown Oliver dropped a pass in the end zone. After the touchdown Youngstown State went for two points. Redshirt freshman quarterback Tommy Rittenhouse, in his first start, ran for a pair of touchdowns as the Redbirds (5-4, 3-3) took a 17-13 lead at the half. However, all five second-half possessions ended in punts, the last putting the Penguins on their 20 with 1:06 to play. Rittenhouse was 7 of 14 for 103 yards and was the leading rushing with 81 on 10 keepers. He went for a 42-yard touchdown on his first snap.
