2023 GULF SOUTH CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Patrick Shegog, Delta State,...Shegog became the 10th player in conference-history since 1971 to be earn the league's top offensive honors in back-to-back seasons. He is also the first Statesmen to accomplish consecutive awards since GSC Hall of Famer Scott Eyster. The graduate signal caller finished the season as the league-leader in passing efficiency (162.6) and interceptions thrown (2). A dual-threat, Shegog accounted for 2,740 total yards of offense, third among GSC leaders, as he threw for 2,194 yards and added 546 yards on the ground. Shegog was also GSC leaders in rushing touchdowns (1st/11), passing touchdowns (T2nd/25), passing completion (3rd/.615), passing yards (4th), and rushing yar ds (9th). - Gulf South Football

2022 GULF SOUTH OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Patrick Shegog, Delta State,...Shegog became the first Statesmen since Gerald Ford in 2012 to earn the league's top offensive honors. The graduate signal caller led conference's second-highest scoring offense average 41.5 points per game, while being the GSC's most accurate passer completing 186-of-284 throws (.655) to go along with 2,480 passing yards and 21 touchdowns. Patrick Shegog threw for one touchdown and ran for another to lead Division II-member Delta State to a 28-17 victory over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday. The Statesmen also scored on four Nick Herber red-zone field goals and a safety. Shegog scored on a 3-yard run in the second quarter as Delta State (3-0) took an 18-0 halftime lead. His 53-yard pass to Tremell Withrow gave the Statesmen a 25-3 lead midway through the third quarter. The Delta Devils (0-3) rallied with a Caleb Johnson 3-yard run an d Jamari Jones's short TD pass to Sylvester Campbell before Herber's fourth field goal closed out the scoring with about five minutes left. - AP College Football
