Jaylon Robinson, Texas Christian, Player News

Receiver Jaylon Robinson, who was limited by injuries last season, went through spring football practices with the Knights before opting to transfer. There was thought when Robinson entered the transfer portal that he would follow Dillon Gabriel. Instead, Robinson joined coach Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss. Robinson originally transferred to UCF after beginning his college career at Oklahoma. After sitting out the 2019 season due to transfer rules, he shined in his first year as a Knight by recording 100 or more receiving yards six times, the most at UCF since Brandon Marshall in 2005. Following a knee injury that limited him this past season, Robinson spent the spring at UCF before deciding to transfer a second time. - Orlando Sentinel

Ole Miss football's success in the transfer portal continues to grow. Former UCF wide receiver Jaylon Robinson committed to Ole Miss from the transfer portal Sunday. Robinson was limited by injuries in 2021 but was an All-AAC performer in 2020 when he caught 55 passes for 979 yards and six touchdowns in 10 games. The 5-foot-9, 163-pound Robinson joins Ole Miss' No. 1 ranked transfer portal recruiting class for 2022. He's the third receiver the Rebels have brought in in the class along with former Louisville pass catcher Jordan Watkins and Mississippi State transfer Malik Heath.

The Rebels also added quarterback Jaxson Dart from USC, running backs Zach Evans and Ulysses Bentley from SMU, tight end Michael Trigg from USC, offensive tackle Mason Brooks from Western Kentucky, defensive linemen JJ Pegues and Jared Ivey from Auburn and Georgia Tech, linebackers Troy Brown and Khari Coleman from Central Michigan and TCU and safeties Isheem Young and Ladarius Tennison from Iowa State and Auburn. - The Clarion Ledger

Former UCF Knights star wide receiver Jaylon Robinson is reportedly down to two options for his third collegiate home after hitting the transfer portal last month. Robinson, who started his career at Oklahoma before transferring to Central Florida, will decide between Ole Miss and Tennessee, according to 247Sports' Rusty Mansell. The transfer wideout ranked No. 11 at his position per On3's transfer rankings has completed official visits to Ole Miss, Tennessee and TCU. Georgia was also showing interest but the Bulldogs won't get Robinson on campus, according to Mansell. Robinson is the No. 2 best-available wide receiver in the portal currently behind former Pitt Panthers star Jordan Addison. The 5-foot-9, 180-pound junior had the best season of his career in 2020 after sitting out in 2019. He posted 979 yards on 55 catches with four touchdowns. In 2021, he had 18 catches in six games played for 322 yards and two touchdowns. He suffered a knee injury on Sept. 17 against Louisville that kept him on the sideline for five games. - 247 Sports and On3

The Canes, this week, are hoping to augment a wide receiver group that they believe could use another key rotation piece. Former UCF receiver Jaylon Robinson began a multiday visit on UM's campus on Wednesday, with Tennessee, Mississippi and TCU also very much in the mix. Playing time was scarce with two NFL receivers (Marquise Brown and CeeDee Lamb) playing virtually every snap.

He transferred to UCF, where he produced big numbers in his first year of eligibility in 2020 (55 catches, 979 yards, 17.8 average per reception and six TDs). He was third in the American Athletic Conference in receptions and yards that season. Last season, he missed five games with a knee injury and had 18 catches for 322 yards (17.9 average) and two touchdowns in six games. Robinson told 247 Sports that the quality of the team's quarterback, scheme fit and NIL opportunities will shape his decision, with a decision coming on May 15. - Miami Herald

UCF wide receiver Jaylon Robinson announced his intentions Wednesday to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Robinson is the third Knight to decide to transfer this week, but he is by far the most impactful departure. Robinson joins reserve quarterback Parker Navarro and linebacker Cole Joyce in the transfer portal. "This is hard," Robinson wrote on social media. "Hard to say goodbye. After much prayer and talk with my family about my future, I've decided that it's in my best interest to enter the transfer portal." Robinson was set for a second straight first-team all-conference season last year before he suffered a knee injury on Sept. 17 against Louisville that kept him sidelined for 5 games. After 234 yards on 12 catches with 2 touchdowns in the first 3 games, Robinson later returned and played in the final 3 of the regular season to total 6 catches for 88 yards and no scores. He missed the Gasparilla Bowl vs. Florida in December. - Orlando Sentinel

Robinson, a redshirt junior, was among 52 players named to the list for the award that recognizes college football's outstanding receiver regardless of position. He finished second on the team in receiving yards (979) and receptions (55) while hauling in six touchdowns in 10 games last season for the Knights. His performance earned him first-team, all-conference honors from the American Athletic Conference. - Orlando Sentinel

Dillon Gabriel threw for 408 yards and four touchdowns to help No. 13 Central Florida beat East Carolina 51-28 on Saturday to open its American Athletic Conference schedule. Jaylon Robinson and Marlon Williams each had huge games as Gabriel's top targets for the Knights (2-0, 1-0). Robinson had nine catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns, while Williams had a career-best 13 catches for 136 yards. Throw in Greg McCrae's short first-quarter scoring run to lead a productive ground game, and UCF finished with 632 yards with its fast-paced offense pushing the tempo to keep the pressure on.

The Knights had a penalty-filled start in the first quarter - including four false-start penalties while trying to get off their first offensive snap - before settling in and blowing the game open with a pair of touchdowns in the final 5 minutes before halftime. Holton Ahlers threw for 215 yards and three TDs for the Pirates (0-1, 0-1), who were making a delayed start to the season after coronavirus-related scheduling changes. And it came in an essentially empty Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium due to COVID-19 protocols, with only a smattering of player family members in attendance. - AP College Football
