Jackson Cravens, Brigham Young, Player News
|
Jackson Cravens, who sat out in 2019 after transferring from Utah, started 11 games for the Broncos last season. He posted a career-high 36 tackles, including a season-high nine stops in a win at Utah State. He also notched the second sack of his Boise S tate career against the Aggies. Cravens isn't as versatile as Scott Matlock, who can play all three positions on the Broncos' defensive line, but when Boise State wants to go big and clog the middle of the field, it's going to turn to Cravens. - Idaho St atesman

Boise State defensive lineman Jackson Cravens said Tuesday that he missed two games earlier this season after testing positive for COVID-19, but he also said he's healthy and ready to play Saturday at Wyoming (4 p.m., CBSSN). He is the fourth Boise State player to have confirmed a positive test, following STUD Sam Whitney, running back Andrew Van Buren and quarterback Hank Bachmeier. Cravens said he didn't have any symptoms, but he missed the Broncos' home game against Colorado State and road game at Ha waii after testing positive for the virus. The transfer from Utah was set to make his return Nov. 28 at home against San Jose State, but that game was canceled less than 5 hours before kickoff. Cravens' return was delayed again last week when the Broncos ' game at UNLV was called off on the advice of medical personnel, according to the Mountain West. - Idaho Statesman

Boise State has won at least 10 games in 18 of the past 22 seasons, a remarkable bit of consistency. Last year, the Broncos were 12-2 overall and won the MWC title, with one of those losses coming to BYU in Provo. There is a lot of great talent on the of fensive side of the ball and a new coordinator in Eric Kiesau, but opponents will see more of the same wide-open attack that is keyed by a strong run game. Defensively, there are some holes to fill but a group of transfers - linebacker Brock Miller (Nort h Carolina State) and defensive linemen Shane Irwin (Long Beach City College) and former Timpview standout Jackson Cravens (Utah) - should give the Broncos a jolt there. - Daily Herald
