2022 ALL-ACC FOOTBALL THIRD TEAM: S - Darius Joiner, Duke, 63 votes,...Joiner, a 6-2, 200-pound graduate student from Roanoke, Ala., ranks second on the team in tackles with 90 and has 7.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, two interceptions, four pass breakup s, four quarterback pressures and one forced fumble. In addition, Joiner has tallied three double digit tackle games this season, including a 14-tackle performance at Northwestern. SEPT 27 MISSOURI VALLEY DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: DB Darius Joiner, Western Illinois, 6-2, 200, Sr., Roanoke, Ala. (Handley High/Jacksonville State),...Joiner had a career day at Youngstown State - setting new career-highs of solo (14) and total tack les (23). That mark for total tackles ranks sixth-best in program history for a single game, is the best in the MVFC this season, and third-best nationally. His efforts helped WIU rally from a 35-7 deficit to win 38-35. SEPT 27 STATS PERFORM NATIONAL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Darius Joiner, Western Illinois, S, Sr., 6-2, 200, Roanoke, Alabama,...The Jacksonville State transfer posted his fourth straight game with double-digit tackles – this time totaling 23 for th e third-highest total of the FCS season – as Western Illinois rallied to beat Youngstown State 38-35, ending an 11-game road losing streak. He had 14 solo tackles, and his sixth and final tackle of the fourth quarter ended YSU's last possession with ju st under two minutes left. WIU overcame a 35-7 deficit to record the biggest comeback win in a Missouri Valley Football Conference game.
