2022 WALTER CAMP FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICAN: OL O'Cyrus Torrence, Florida,...A native of Greensburg, La., Torrence started in eleven games this season, allowing zero sacks while not committing a penalty not only during his lone season with the Gators, but over his career. Torrence is the highest graded guard in the country according to Pro Football Focus with an 88.2 grade. Torrence has anchored an offensive line that has allowed only 13 sacks this season, which is second-least in the SEC and tied for 15th in the nation. Florida's 5.8 yards per carry and 213.7 rushing yards per game are amongst the best in program history. On Tuesday, Torrence was selected to the All-SEC First Team, becoming the first Florida offensive lineman to earn such honors since Maurkince and Mike Pouncey back in 2009, and the 26th overall. - Florida Football

2022 ALL-SEC FIRST TEAM (COACHES): OL O'Cyrus Torrence, Florida,...Torrence has anchored an offensive line that has allowed only 13 sacks this season, which is second-least in the SEC and tied for 15th in the nation. Florida's 5.8 yards per carry and 213.7 rushing yards per game are amongst the best in program history with Torrence leading the way. Additionally, Torrence was tabbed SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week for Week 10 and the Co-SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week for Week 11. This marked the first time a Gators offensive lineman claimed consecutive offensive lineman of the week honors in the same season, and is the first offensive lineman to win the award multiple times in the same season since Martez Ivey in 2016. Torrence becomes the 26th Florida offensive lineman to be named All-SEC First Team by the coaches since the league established the honor in 1984. - Florida Football

TRACKING TOP DRAFT PROSPECTS - WEEK 2: 24. OCyrus Torrence, Sr, OG, Florida, 6-5, 347, 1,...After a great season opener, Florida and quarterback Anthony Richardson struggled in a 26-16 loss to Kentucky. Richardson rushed for 106 yards and three scores in week one but against Kentucky he was held to four yards on the ground and completed only 14 of 35 for 143 yards and two interceptions. He was under duress most the game and the whole offensive line seemed porous. We must take a closer look at big Torrence in the game vids.

Previous week, No. 24: Torrence is a transfer from Louisiana who joined the Florida Gators in the spring. Hard to get stats on a guard and we haven't seen vids on the game, but in their 29-26 win over Utah, the Gators gained 451 total yards, including 283 on the ground. Somebody must have been blocking and Torrence, a massive 6-5, 347-pounder, is probably, ah, somebody in that equation. - Frank Cooney/NFL Draft Scout

An under-the-radar recruit, Torrence (listed at 6-5 and 347 pounds) was an immediate star for head coach Billy Napier at Louisiana. Now the former Freshman All-American and All-Sun Belt star will play his trade with Napier in Gainesville. He immediately becomes Florida's most proven and high-upside lineman. - ESPN.com

It's rare that a player moving up from the Group of 5 ranks becomes part of the preseason all-conference and All-America discussion, but that's exactly what has happened with Torrence now that he is at Florida. A three-year starter at guard and an All-Sun Belt Conference selection at Louisiana in 2021, Torrence (6-5, 347) followed new Gators coach Billy Napier to Gainesville. He all but won a starting job at right guard in the spring, and is expected to be among the top linemen on the team and in the SEC. Though he has two years of eligibility remaining, Torrence is also a legitimate early-round NFL draft prospect for next spring. - Birmingham News

Growing up near the Louisiana-Mississippi border in Greensburg, La. (population 1,018), new Florida offensive lineman O'Cyrus Torrence wasn't a hardcore SEC football fan. "I watched football, but I never thought too much about where I would play," Torrence said. "I just always kind of liked it. Towards the end of my high school years, I wanted to play SEC ball at LSU, but it kind of didn't pan out for me." Instead, Torrence wound up at Louisiana, where he developed into an all-Sun Belt conference standout under head coach Billy Napier and offensive line coach Rob Sale. When the opportunity came to follow Napier and Sale to Florida, Torrence didn't hesitate, transferring to UF. Torrence will suit up for the Gators this fall with two years of eligibility remaining. - Gainesville Sun

A pair of Florida Gators football players have been named to the Walter Camp 2022 Preseason All-America teams, the foundation announced this week. Offensive lineman O'Cyrus Torrence, who transferred to UF from Louisiana prior to the spring semester, was named to the first-team offense, while junior defensive tackle Gervon Dexter earned a place on the second-team defense. The Walter Camp 2022 Preseason All-America teams, the longest-running All-America team in the nation, are comprised of 50 players across 32 schools representing eight NCAA Division I conferences.

As a junior at Louisiana in 2021, Torrence started and appeared in 11 games with the Ragin' Cajuns, and he was a driving force behind a protection unit that allowed just 1.86 sacks per contest last season. Louisiana's offense finished the season ranked 10th nationally in total offense and 18th in total touchdowns, and Torrence earned Joe Moore Award semifinalist honors for the second consecutive season for his efforts with the program. - Gainesville Sun

Louisiana has now placed a lineman on the list in back-to-back seasons after the Ragin' Cajuns saw Robert Hunt earn the preseason recognition prior to the 2019 season.

A native of Greensburg, Louisiana, Torrence started in 13 of the team's 14 games as a freshman, picking up his first career start on Sept. 7 against Liberty. In that contest, he became the first true freshman to start a game on the offensive line since Jesse Newman did so against ULM on Nov. 20, 2004.
