NaJee Thompson's effort Saturday night certainly was special, and he was rewarded as the Sun Belt Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. Thompson, a junior slotback, blocked two ULM punts, with the second one recovered by teammate Rashad Byrd in th e end zone for what proved to be the winning points. His three career blocks - tied for the seventh-most in Eagles history - all have come at ULM, and the first in 2018 also resulted in a score. "I just want to make plays for the special teams, 24/7," Th ompson said after the victory. "Practice, when special teams come up, it's like a rush for me. In the game, every opportunity I take. Special teams, I definitely take pride in. I love it. Even when I get (to play) on offense, I get a limited opportunity, so when I go out there, I've got to make them count." Thompson is the first Eagles player to receive an SBC weekly honor this season. - Savannah Morning News
