It happened four years later than Terry Hampton hoped, but he's finally getting his shot to play for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Hampton, a fifth-year senior defensive tackle from El Dorado, transferred from Arkansas State University and has worked his way into the Razorbacks' playing rotation. Having appendicitis as a junior and a knee injury as a senior in high school impacted Hampton's recruiting options. "I definitely was a Razorback," Hampton said of growing up cheering for the University of Arkansas. "My pops, he always wanted me to play for the Razorbacks. "Life has come full circle, and I'm here now for sure." Hampton said he's grateful ASU continued to recruit him and offered a scholarship.Ranked the No. 123 defensive tackle nationally by 247Sports.com, he also was recruited by Memphis, Tulsa, Texas State, Tulane and Louisiana-Monroe. After playing in 36 games for the Red Wolves, including 19 starts, Hampton went into the transfer portal. He was limited to six games last season after suff ering another knee injury, but Houston and SMU showed interest. Then Arkansas made an offer. "I took it as soon as possible," Hampton said. Transfer defensive lineman Terry Hampton plans to report to Fayetteville on May 31. Hampton, 6-0, 293 pounds, entered the NCAA transfer portal on April 15 after recording 61 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks during his career at Arkansas State. He picked the Razorbacks over offers from Texas Tech, SMU, Illinois, Houston, Oregon State, Western Kentucky and Utah State. A native of El Dorado, he grew up following Arkansas and wanted to play for the Razorbacks. He has one year of eligibility remai ning. - Northwest Arkansas Times

Former Arkansas State defensive lineman Terry Hampton will make an official visit to Arkansas this weekend. He arrived in Fayetteville on Friday 4-29). Hampton, 6-0, 293 pounds, played in six games after suffering a season-ending knee injury. He recorded 11 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss. As a sophomore, he played in 11 games and had 35 tackles, 6 tackles for loss and 2 sacks. Hampton has recorded 61 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks in his career. Hampton, who entered the NCAA transfer port al on April 15, has offers from Arkansas, Texas Tech, SMU, Illinois, Houston, Oregon State, Western Kentucky and Utah State. He has one year of eligibility remaining. The Razorbacks have also extended an offer to Nebraska transfer defensive lineman Casey Rogers. Hampton signed with the Red Wolves out of El Dorado in 2018. Arkansas coach Sam Pittman said the Razorbacks hope to add two defensive tackles and a receiver from the transfer portal. - Northwest Arkansas Times
