2022 ALL-MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE THIRD TEAM: Tight End - Joel Wilson, Central Michigan,...Tight end Joel Wilson, a Petoskey, Mich. native, earns All-MAC honors for the first time in his career. Before missing the season's final three games due to injury, Wilson led the Chippewas in both touchdown receptions (six) and yards receiving per game (49.4) and ranked second on the team in scoring (38 points), receptions (44), and receiving yards (445). After nine games, Wilson ranked second nationally among tig ht ends in receptions and receiving yards and he led the Chippewas in receiving in three games. During his four-year, 34-game career, Wilson has 82 receptions for 874 yards and 12 touchdowns with a 25.7 average per game. Wilson is a Mechanical Engineerin g major. - Central Michigan Football

After leading Central Michigan football with six touchdown catches, junior tight end Joel Wilson has entered his name into the 2023 NFL Draft. Wilson made the announcement on Wednesday via Instagram. Due to a season ending injury against Northern Illino is, Wilson played in nine games during the 2022 season. In that time, he recorded career-highs in receptions (44) and receiving yards (445). In 2018, the Petoskey native came to CMU and transitioned from quarterback to tight end, recording one catch in f our games. Wilson saw time in three games during 2019 and his first start in the New Mexico Bowl against San Diego St. Although Wilson improved his numbers in 2020, he didn't breakout until the 2021 season. After becoming the full-time starter, he finis hed with 31 catches for 367 yards and six touchdowns. - Central Michigan Life
