2022 PRESEASON RAY GUY WATCHLIST: Anthony Beck II - Georgia Southern,...Beck is a big redshirt senior (6-4, 245) who has been a punter and holder since his record-setting prep career at South Effingham High in Georgia. He also played high school quarterb ack and linebacker. In five games at quarterback he threw for 643 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 233 yards and three more scores. In five games as a linebacker, he had 23 tackles, three sacks and a fumble recovery. Beck II also made three field g oals. After redshirting in 2018, Beck II has been Georgia Southern’ s punter and holder, with a three-year total of 183 punts, an average of 4.32 yards, ten touchbacks, 61 inside the 20, 80 fair catches and 38 longer than 50 yards. Last season was b y far his best when he set a school record with a 45.0-yard average … Also had a school-record 17 punts of 50 yards or longer … Had 23 punts downed inside the 20 as opposed to just two touchbacks … Also had 29 punts fair caught. - Georgia Southern Football

More than 97,000 fans and spectators filed into Tiger Stadium on Aug. 31, 2019 to watch LSU host Georgia Southern. Two of those fans were Laurie and Tony Beck, Anthony Beck II's parents. The Becks made the trip from Guyton, Georgia to Baton Rouge, Louisi ana to watch their son make his first collegiate start for Georgia Southern. "When we got there, we were so excited," Laurie said. "The team was down there during warm-ups and my husband and I went to say hi. (Anthony) came over to us and he was so calm and cool. I couldn't believe it." Beck punted nine times in the Eagles' loss to the eventual national champions, highlighted by a 74-yard boot that fell inside the LSU 20-yard-line. The kick was a yard shy of tying the program record.The outing ag ainst the Tigers wasn't the first time people were treated to Beck's powerful right leg. For Patrick Means, that showcase began in the fall of 2014. South Effingham High School, where Beck was a freshman, faced Richmond Hill, where Means is an assistant coach, midway through the region schedule. Means usually stands on the sideline to coach, but for this game he was in the press box. After the game, Means tracked down Beck's parents to offer private kicking lessons. "In the game, he hit some absolute bo mb punts," Means recalled. "He's a prototype punter for the NFL. I'm sitting here talking to him that if he buys into this punting thing, you can go beyond college football if you want to." - Savannah Morning News

NOV 18 SUN BELT SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Anthony Beck II, Georgia Southern (Freshman, Punter, Guyton, Ga.),...Anthony Beck II had a big game punting for the Eagles as they defeated ULM to become bowl eligible. The redshirt freshman punted six ti mes for an average of 48.5 yards, which is the second-best single-game average of his short career. He had three punts downed inside the 20-yard line and had two punts of 50+ yards and even had one punt fumbled that was recovered by the Eagles that event ually led to a touchdown.
