2022 NORTHEAST-10 MOST VALUABLE PLAYER: Carlton Aiken, Pace,...Aiken was a dynamic player for Pace this season, as he averaged 179.9 passing yards and 69.4 rushing yards per game to lead the Setters to a 6-4 record (4-3 NE10). He combined for 23 touchdow ns (17 pass, six rush) and just six interceptions, while he ranked third in passing yards (1,799) and rushing yards (694) among all NE10 players. Carlton Aiken overcame three interceptions with two touchdowns running and Gardner-Webb took control in the third quarter to mount a 42-20 comeback win against Elon on Saturday. No. 24-ranked ranked Elon led 17-0 at the end of the first quarter and 20-7 at intermission. But midway through the third, Aiken led an 11-play, 75-yard drive that ended with Dexter Brown running it in from 2-yards out to reduce the deficit to six. On Elon's following drive, Jaylan Thomas coughed it up in the backfield and the B ulldogs' Ga'Marcus Freeman recovered it. Three plays later, Aiken ran it in from 23 yards and Gardner-Webb (1-0) rolled from there. Devron Harper closed the quarter with a 41-yard punt return for a touchdown that made it 28-20. Narii Gaither gained 111 y ards rushing on 19 carries and scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns for the Bulldogs. Izaiah Gathings had 126 yards receiving on 10 catches. Joey Baughman threw for 130 yards and had a touchdown rushing for the Phoenix (1-1). Bryson Daughtry added a 12-yard run for a touchdown. - Gardner-Webb/AP College Football

2019 ALL-NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): QB Carlton Aiken, Pace,...Aiken led the NE10 in passing touchdowns with 19 while throwing just three interceptions. He completed 142 passes for 1,833 yards, including a season high of 275 in a win o ver Franklin Pierce. He also added 684 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground this season. Aiken rushed for two touchdowns and passed for two touchdowns for the first time in his career in a win over Southern Connecticut State University. He rushed for 180 yards and a touchdown while throwing two more in a win over Assumption. He was named NE10 Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 30 after throwing for four touchdowns and rushing for 89 yards in a win over Saint Anselm and made the NE10 weekly honor r oll on four occasions. Aiken came up just one touchdown pass shy of tying the program record of 20 touchdown passes in a season. - Pace Football

2019 NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Carlton Aiken, Pace,...Aiken, the Offensive Player of the Year as the signal caller for Pace, led all NE10 quarterbacks in passing touchdowns with 19 to only three interceptions. Not on ly did Aiken rack-up 1,833 passing yards and a passing efficiency of 142.8 (second-best in the league), but he recorded 684 rushing yards (68.4 per game) and nine scores on the ground.
