Less than a month after entering the transfer portal, Micah Jones has solidified where his next step - and perhaps too his first collegiate catch - will unfold. The Notre Dame junior announced on Twitter Wednesday that he has committed to FCS power Illin ois State. The 6-foot-5, 219-pound wide receiver is on track to get his ND degree in May, and will join the Redbirds this summer. ISU (0-1) just opened its 2020-21 season this past Saturday, delayed to the spring semester because of COVID-19 concerns, an d lost to South Dakota, 27-20. The Redbirds went 10-5 in 2019, reaching the FCS Playoff quarterfinals before losing to eventual champ and top-ranked North Dakota State, 9-3. Jones becomes the seventh player to commit to or enroll at a new school since th e end of the 2020 Irish season on Jan. 1. - South Bend Tribune

The largest wide receiver listed on Notre Dame's roster has entered his name into the transfer portal. The 6-foot-5, 219-pound Micah Jones made the news public Monday a month after concluding his third season with the Irish. Jones mentioned in his announ cement posted to Twitter that he will receive his Notre Dame degree in May. Playing in just five career games, Jones has yet to record a catch in college. He spent his time as a reserve behind Miles Boykin, Chase Claypool, Kevin Austin Jr., Joe Wilkins J r. and others at boundary receiver.
