Fifth-year senior and safety Otis Reese transferred from the University of Georgia but came to Ole Miss his junior year and played three seasons with the Rebels. Reese was smooth with his hands and can get in contact with the ball without drawing flags. For the Rebels, he showed natural balance, quick feet, excellent awareness and was skilled at reading routes and quarterbacks. Reese showed great talent during his final year as an Ole Miss Rebel and is a promising prospect for the 2023 NFL Draft. - Dail y Mississippian

Despite a statement from SEC commissioner Greg Sankey approving a number of intraconference transfers for 2020, Ole Miss safety Otis Reese is still not cleared to play. According to confirmation from an Ole Miss spokesperson, Reese's transfer request has still not yet been cleared by the NCAA. Reese transferred to Ole Miss from Georgia in January and has been seeking appeal since arriving. Sankey issued a statement on Wednesday evening in support of special case waivers for players in positions such as Reese's for this season. Reese is one of three high-profile intraconference SEC transfers this season. Tennessee offensive linemen Cade Mays (formerly of Georgia) and Kentucky quarterback Joey Gatewood (formerly of Auburn) have both reportedly been grant ed eligibility as of Wednesday. - Mississippi Clarion Ledger

Otis Reese, a former Georgia defensive back, is fighting for immediate eligibility at Ole Miss after his January transfer. Reese posted a letter to Twitter on Tuesday night alleging that he was manipulated by head coach Kirby Smart and his staff, adding that Georgia opposed his request to the NCAA for eligibility to play this season. Reese also said in the tweet that his time at Georgia took a "devastating mental toll" on him because of "aggressive" harassment by campus police. He also recounted racist behavior by students on campus and said there was a lack of response by the UGA coaching staff."From my first moments I stepped on campus," Reese wrote. "It was not what I expected. The racist events that I kept experiencing weighed on me heavily and seemed never ending." Tom Mars, a lawyer who has become involved in many of the eligibility cases around college football players, responded to Reese's letter. Mars runs Mars Law Firm, based out of Atlanta and Rogers, Arkansas. "Kirby Smart's unequiv ocal support would have caused the NCAA to rubber stamp Otis' waiver request," Mars wrote. "But whether it's Cade Mays, Ohio State's star QB, or Otis Reese, Coach Smart always seems to focus on pleasing the angry, retaliatory UGA fans." - Macon Telegraph
