2022 ALL-MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM: Wide Receiver - Jayshon Jackson, Ball State,...Jackson was the top target for the Cardinals with 74 receptions, which also led the MAC and was inside the top 20 nationally. He had 829 receiving yards and thre e touchdowns during the 2022 campaign. In just two seasons, Jackson hauled in 143 receptions, which sits just outside the top 10 for career catches in a Ball State uniform. The Chicago, Ill. native was one of just five players nationally to have three ga mes of 10 catches and at least 100 yards this season. Jackson capped the season having caught a pass in 37 straight games, tied with teammate Yo'Heinz Tyler for seventh-most among all active FBS players. - Ball State Football

Just one year after it was picked to finish first in the Mid-American Conference football preseason media poll, Ball State finds itself with a much different outlook heading into the 2022 season. The Cardinals were picked to finish last in the MAC West D ivision in the preseason poll, released Tuesday ahead of the MAC football kickoff. Ball State finished only in front of Akron (28 points) in overall points with 42. This comes after a season in which saw Ball State appeared in its second straight bowl ga me and finished with a 6-7 overall (4-4 MAC) overall record after a lopsided, 51-20, defeat in the Camellia Bowl to Georgia State. Head coach Mike Neu, who enters his seventh season at the helm, returns just 11 starters from the 2021 season (six on offen se, five on defense). - Star Press

Nine Ball State football players earned preseason All-Mid-American Conference recognition in Phil Steele's 2022 College Football Preview and Athlon Sports' preseason magazine, respectively. Phil Steele's preseason All-MAC picks included wide receiver Jay shon Jackson and offensive lineman Corey Stewart, who earned second team honors. Linebacker Clayton Coll, safety Malcolm Lee, long snapper Dylan Seiler, running back Carson Steele and cornerback Amechi Uzodinma II earned third team honors. University of Cincinnati Bearcats wide receiver Jayshon Jackson has entered the NCAA transfer portal. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Jackson, a Chicago native, was a three-star recruit in Cincinnati Head Coach Luke Fickell's 2018 recruiting class. Jackson appe ared in 13 games as a freshman with the Bearcats, making one start. Jackson had 67 catches for 786 yards and three touchdowns in 37 games at UC. - Cincinnati Enquirer
