OCT 10 BIG 12 DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: K-State's Josh Hayes led No. 20 K-State's defense in a 10-9 win at Iowa State with 11 tackles, including one for loss, and one pass breakup. The Wildcats held ISU to three field goals and allowed only one serie s into the red zone. The nine points were the fewest against a Big 12 opponent since the 2018 Texas Tech game (6) and the fewest in a Big 12 road game since the 2016 TCU contest (6). In a tightly contested series against Iowa State, it was the fewest poi nts surrendered to the Cyclones since 2013 (7) and the fewest allowed in Ames since 2003 (0). - Big 12 Football

Josh Hayes, a transfer cornerback from North Dakota State, will join the Virginia football program in the fall. UVa announced the news Saturday morning. Hayes has one season of eligibility remaining and will enroll at UVa in the summer. The defensive bac k comes to UVa after a productive career for the top program in the FCS. He played in six of NDSU's games in 2020-21, recording 30 tackles and three pass breakups. He entered the transfer portal earlier this month. Hayes played in 52 consecutive games fo r the Bison before deciding to enter the transfer portal this spring. The Florida native will now have a chance to showcase his skills against Power 5 foes. The corner is the latest FCS transfer to join Virginia. James Madison transfers D'Angelo Amos and Adeeb Atariwa both played significant snaps on the Cavaliers' defense in 2020. - Charlottesville Daily Progress

OCT 28 MISSOURI VALLEY DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: CB Josh Hayes, North Dakota State, 5-11, 186, Jr., Lakeland, Fla. (Lake Gibson HS),...Hayes' first career interception came was a big one for North Dakota State in a 23-16 win at South Dakota State. On third-and-9, his leaping catch at the 15-yard line stopped SDSU with 4:56 left and kept the game tied at 16 and the Bison answered with a touchdown on the next drive. OCT 14 MISSOURI VALLEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE: CB Josh Hayes, North Dakota State,...Hayes made a career-high three pass breakups in North Dakota State's 46-14 win over 10th-ranked Northern Iowa along with one game-changing play. With the Bison holdin g a four-point lead and UNI driving to start the second half, Hayes forced a fumble that NDSU recovered at the UNI 35 to set up a touchdown two plays later and give NDSU a two-score lead.
