The roster for the Texas football team once again includes Anthony Cook's name. Earlier this summer, Cook tweeted that he had played at Texas for the last time. Cook deleted that tweet, but the junior cornerback later entered the transfer portal anyways. His name was scrubbed from the team's roster in July. Near the end of July, it was reported by multiple media outlets that Cook had withdrawn from the transfer portal. Recently, he reappeared on the roster listed on the team's website. In his collegiate career, Cook has appeared in 25 games and made seven starts. He has recorded 42 tackles, three pass deflections and a forced fumble. - Austin American Statesman

Less than two weeks after he tweeted that he will "not be playing another snap for the University of Texas," Anthony Cook has reportedly entered the NCAA's transfer portal. Multiple media outlets reported on Tuesday that Cook's name now appears in the tr ansfer portal. A 6-1, 185-pound cornerback, Cook has two years of eligibility remaining. A Texas spokesperson was unable to immediately confirm those reports. On June 11, Cook abruptly announced that he had played in his last game at Texas. Cook's tweet about his departure was later deleted. Less than two weeks later, however, it appears that Cook is gone for good. Cook was considered a four-star talent when he signed with Texas in December of 2017. As a freshman, he was inserted into the starting line- up at Oklahoma State following the suspensions of Kris Boyd and Davante Davis. The following year, he started six times. - Austin American Statesman

Texas defensive back Anthony Cook abruptly announced late Thursday that he was leaving the Longhorns for undisclosed reasons. The tweet was later deleted. "Due to unfortunate situations I will not be playing another snap for the University of Texas," Coo k tweeted. "Has nothing to do with anyone or anything. Please respect my decision." Cook was a sophomore last season and started in seven out of 25 career games. He was part of coach Tom Herman's breakout recruiting class in 2018 and considered to be in the mix for a starting job this fall. Cook was the fifth-rated prospect on the American-Statesman's Fab 55 list and a five-star recruit after finishing his high school career at Houston Lamar. - Austin American Statesman
