Auburn will likely be without one of its wide receivers when it hosts LSU on Halloween. The status of junior receiver Shedrick Jackson is up in the air for Saturday's 2:30 p.m. matchup against the defending national champions, though head coach Gus Malza hn did not sound optimistic about Jackson's availability. "He's questionable," Malzahn said. "He had an injury that, in the South Carolina game he tried to return to it, so he's questionable, probably, at best." Jackson missed last week's game against Ol e Miss with an undisclosed injury. It was the second game this season the junior has missed due to injury. He also missed the season-opener against Kentucky, and he re-aggravated that injury during the loss to South Carolina two weeks ago.Jackson has only one reception this season for 9 yards, but the 6-foot, 201-pounder out of Hoover is one of the Tigers' best perimeter blockers at receiver and has made his name on that trait during his time on the Plains. He spent this offseason growing into mo re of an all-around receiver, though the opportunities have not come often this season in the passing game when he has been healthy. In his absence last week, freshman Ze'Vian Capers made his second career start at receiver. Capers also started in Jackso n's place during the opener against Kentucky. - Birmingham News

Shedrick Jackson has been a key part of Auburn's receiving corps the last two years, but the junior out of Hoover may finally be on the verge of becoming an integral part of the Tigers' passing attack. After spending much of the last two seasons excellin g as a blocker at receiver, Jackson has found a new sense of confidence as an all-around receiver looking to carve out a role for himself in new offensive coordinator Chad Morris' system. "Shedrick Jackson is a guy that's really coming along," Auburn coa ch Gus Malzahn said. "He came off the end of last year and is just a really confident guy who is having a really good camp." Jackson, a former three-star recruit out of Hoover and the nephew of Auburn legend Bo Jackson, has appeared in 20 games during hi s first two seasons at Auburn but has recorded just four receptions for 46 yards and a two-point conversion. The 6-foot, 201-pounder was lauded as being a polished receiver when he signed with Auburn in 2018, but much of his early playing time was earned due to his toughness and willingness to be a physical and effective perimeter blocker in the run game. That physicality continued to shine through as a sophomore last season, particularly down the stretch as he started in each of the Tigers' final four games of the season - against Georgia, Samford, Alabama and Minnesota. That late surge into the lineup, which included a career-long 25-yard reception against Georgia, provided a welcome confidence boost for Jackson, who has carried that into the o ffseason and through fall camp. Now the junior is looking to assert himself as the fourth receiver behind the productive veteran trio of Seth Williams, Anthony Schwartz and Eli Stove. - Birmingham News
