Antonio Moultrie is a dude. The redshirt junior was unrecognizable as UAB opened fall practice Tuesday, shedding more than 20 pounds of weight and sporting a freshly toned physique that accentuated his lean and imposing frame. He was also missing from th e defensive line rotation and working at outside linebacker with the Blazers' elite pass-rushing unit. "It's different but at the same time pretty much the same," Moultrie said. "At the end of the day, it's just football. You go after the ball and make a play, you play your assignment and put in a good team effort."A consistent force as an interior defensive lineman the last two seasons, Moultrie started 10 games in 27 appearances while amassing 55 tackles (2.5 for loss), four pass breakups and a n interception. He was also an All-C-USA second-team pick last year while helping lead UAB to another top 10 defensive ranking. Moultrie was officially at 290 pounds at the conclusion of the 2020 season and is currently listed at 265 pounds, a stark phys ical contrast considering his 6-4 physique. "That's probably a more comfortable weight for him and that's what we try to do," UAB head coach Bill Clark said. "We let guys be in a weight that fits them. That outside linebacker, it's a little bit leaner, a nd he's got a lot of versatility and can do a lot of different things." - Birmingham Post Herald
