Two weeks before the start of the season, Ole Miss football still isn't done building its roster. Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin announced the addition of offensive lineman Jordan Rhodes to the roster Monday. Rhodes, who played in 20 games over the last three years at South Carolina, is a 6-foot-4, 335-pound lineman originally from Fairburn, Georgia. Rhodes has two years of eligibility remaining and will be immediately eligible to play. Rhodes played in four games for South Carolina in 2020 without making a start. He played in all 12 of the Gamecocks' games in 2019. Rhodes entered his name into the transfer portal in April. This addition marks two veteran offensive linemen added by the Rebels this summer. Ole Miss also brought in Utah transfer Orlando Umana, who is expected to start at center when healthy. - The Clarion Ledger

Another South Carolina football player is reportedly heading for a new stop. Redshirt senior offensive lineman Jordan Rhodes entered the transfer portal Friday a USC athletic department spokesperson confirmed to The State. Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports first reported the news. Rhodes played in 20 games over the past three seasons, mostly in a reserve role. He opted out of the 2020 season before opting back in. Rhodes wasn't among the linemen working with the first-team offense during the practice portions that have been open to the media. He was rated a three-star recruit in the 2017 class and chose South Carolina over offers from Missouri, Cincinnati and Mississippi State, among others. - Rock Hill Herald

There will be more changes. As long as the coronavirus remains a threat, there will be constant pivoting and adjusting. But as South Carolina heads into the next phase of preseason football practice, the Gamecocks appear to be in a good place. "We've told our guys since the spring, the mature responsible teams are going to be the successful teams. I'm really proud of how our guys have handled it," South Carolina coach Will Muschamp said Wednesday. "We're encouraging them to lead a very boring life right now. Nothing wrong with that. Boring is good." Offensive linemen Mark Fox and Jordan Rhodes have opted to sit out the 2020 season, Muschamp said. They will remain on scholarship but aren't with the team right now. - The Post and Courier
