2022 PRESEASON BRONKO NAGURSKI TROPHY WATCHLIST: S Grayson Cash, UAB,...Cash made some of the biggest plays of the season last year en route to earning Second Team All-Conference USA honors. Highlighted by a 100-yard pick six against Florida Atlantic and a blocked punt which he recovered for a touchdown at Southern Miss, Cash ended the season with 23 tackles, three interceptions, four pass breakups and two blocked punts. With six career interceptions, Cash's next INT will move him into the top 10 all-ti me at UAB in that category. Cash is one of three remaining players who has been on the team since the Blazers made their return to the playing field in 2017. Fellow safety Will Boler and outside linebacker Kyle Harrell are the other two. - UAB Football

Will Boler and Grayson Cash return as the only seniors in the backend and look to cap their respective careers in successful fashion. Both have played in the strong safety position and are expected to share the role in the same capacity but with fluidity on the field. Boler was named an All-C-USA honorable mention in each of the last three seasons, appearing in 49 career games with 33 starts, between free and strong safety positions, and has accumulated 160 tackles (4.5 for loss), 13 pass breakups, 2 in terceptions and 2 forced fumbles.Meanwhile, Cash has played in 45 career games while amassing 84 tackles (4 for loss), 11 pass breakups, 6 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles and 2 blocked punts. He is a timely playmaker for UAB after scoring a touchd own on one of his blocked punts and setting a school record with a 100-yard interception return for a touchdown, the latter of which swung momentum back to UAB before halftime in what was a close first-half against FAU. - Birmingham Post Herald

OCT 18 C-USA SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: With UAB leading Southern Miss 10-0 in the second quarter, UAB S Grayson Cash blocked a punt and recovered it in the end zone to spark a 34-0 victory. It was Cash's second blocked punt of the season and his second straight game scoring a touchdown after his 100-yard interception return for a touchdown last week. Cash also added one tackle and a PBU against Southern Miss. - C-USA Football

Dylan Hopkins threw a pair of touchdown passes and ran for a third and Grayson Cash returned an interception 100 yards for a score to lead Alabama-Birmingham past Florida Atlantic, 31-14 in a Conference USA battle on Saturday. Hopkins threw touchdown pas ses top Samario Rudolph and Trea Shropshire two minutes apart in the first quarter to earn UAB a 14-0 lead, but N'Kosi Perry scored from the 1 and tossed two yards to LaJohntay Wester to bring the Owls back in the second quarter. Matt Quinn connected on a 48-yard field goal and Cash picked off a Perry pass in the final minute for the pick-six and a 24-14 UAB lead at intermission. Hopkins scored from the 5 for the only score of the second half. Hopkins was 13 of 24 for 173 yards and carried seven times f or 32 to lead UAB (4-2, 2-0). Perry was 16 of 25 for 193 yards and a touchdown for Florida Atlantic (3-3, 1-1), but threw three interceptions. - UAB/AP College Football
