SEPT 5 CONFERENCE USA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: WKU DB Kaleb Oliver had the best game of his WKU career in Saturday's 49-17 win over Hawai'i. The Georgia Tech transfer intercepted a pair of passes on the night and broke up another. His two picks were two of six takeaways produced by the WKU defense. Oliver also made two tackles on the night. Oliver returned his first interception 42 yards to the Hawai'i 17-yard line, setting up a WKU touchdown on the very next play. His second interception came late in the third quarter, helping WKU put the game away. - Conference USA Football

Western Kentucky has made a late addition to its 2021 roster. The Hilltoppers on Friday announced the signing of Georgia Tech transfer safety Kaleb Oliver. "More Than Excited To Be On The Hill," Oliver wrote in a quote tweet of the announcement. The 6-fo ot-4, 220-pound redshirt junior played in nine games with four starts last year for the 3-7 Yellow Jackets. He recorded 32 tackles, including four for loss and two sacks, broke up three passes and recovered a fumble. He appeared in 11 games and made six starts at safety as a redshirt sophomore in 2019, finishing seventh on the team with 39 total tackles. He led Georgia Tech with two interceptions, which came against Clemson's Trevor Lawrence and Temple's Anthony Russo. After redshirting in 2017, he play ed in all 13 games in 2018 and collected 21 tackles - 2.5 for loss - while recording an interception, two pass breakups and a forced fumble. - BG Daily News

After three seasons and 33 games, Georgia Tech safety Kaleb Oliver will leave the Yellow Jackets as a graduate transfer. Oliver, who started four games this past season, made the announcement Thursday. Oliver was part of a talented secondary, mostly play ing nickel back the past two seasons for defensive coordinator Andrew Thacker. He started six games as a sophomore in 2019, finishing seventh on the team with 39 tackles, as well as six passes defensed, tied for second on the team. In 2020, he played in nine games, starting four, and was credited with 32 tackles, eighth on the team. Four of the tackles were for loss. - Atlanta Journal Constitution
