Florida State offensive lineman Kayden Lyles will miss this upcoming season with an injury. Lyles, a graduate transfer from Wisconsin, announced the news on social media Wednesday. "I know all too well that injuries are a part of playing football at the highest level. Unfortunately, I will not be able to be on the field this season, but I came to Florida State to make an impact on this program and that is still what I will do," Lyles posted on Twitter. "We have a group of dedicated offensive linemen, an d I am going to use the experiences I've gained through five years of playing college football to help them develop any way I can. "Thank you to everyone for the support. I'm going to approach every day with the mindset of improvement, and I'm looking fo rward to seeing what this team will do this season." Coach Mike Norvell addressed Lyles' status following practice, confirming the injury happened last week. "I hate it for him just for the work he's put in," said Norvell. "He's done a great job since he 's got here. We'll explore all options moving forward. "He's going to actively be a part of what we're doing but unfortunately it won't be on the field for us this year." - Orlando Sentinel

Wisconsin offensive lineman Kayden Lyles says he's transferring. Lyles tweeted Monday that he plans to go elsewhere for his final season of eligibility. "Though my time as a Badger has come to an end on the field, I'll forever be thankful to the fans, co aches, staff and - especially - to my teammates for all of their support," Lyles said. Lyles made a combined 16 starts on both sides of the line for Wisconsin. He started seven games at defensive end in 2018, four at left guard in 2019, four at center in 2020 and one at center this season. He appeared in five games this season, sitting out the last two. It's the second straight week a Wisconsin player has revealed plans to transfer. Wide receiver/kick returner Devin Chandler entered the transfer portal last week. Wisconsin (4-3, 2-2 Big Ten) hosts No. 9 Iowa (6-1, 3-1) on Saturday. - AP College Football

The injury Kayden Lyles suffered against Indiana likely will force Wisconsin's starting center to miss the remainder of the 2020 season. "I think that is probable," UW offensive coordinator/line coach Joe Rudolph said during a Zoom session Wednesday. "He won't be back most likely in the next couple weeks for sure." The Badgers (2-2) close the regular season Saturday at Iowa (5-1) and then could play Minnesota during the league's Champions Week. A potential bowl game is to be determined. Lyles, a redshir t junior who started the first four games, suffered a right leg injury on UW's second series in the loss to Indiana. - Journal Sentinel
