 Ventrell Miller, Florida, Player News

Miller, the super senior mike linebacker, made seven tackles against Kentuckey but left the game after the opening play of the fourth quarter. As the connective tissue of the defense, Miller's presence can't be overstated - particularly with a matchup against Tennessee's rapid-fire offense two weeks away. - The Athletic

Ventrell Miller finished the season facing the same question as the year before. Should I stay or should I go? "I always felt like I had unfinished business here," Miller said. He was still rehabbing in spring practice, and he missed a lot of practice taking a class offered only on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. When Miller did practice, he made an impression on the new staff. "He's a vocal guy," Coach Billy Napier said. "He's got great presence and energy. And he's certainly been a productive player."

The new defensive scheme should offer Miller more freedom to blitz, fly around and be his reckless self. Motivation will not be an issue. "It's a personal year for me," Miller said. He sounded like the "This time it's personal," tagline from "Jaws: The Revenge." It was the last and arguably the worst of "Jaws" sequels. That aside, Miller relishes the thought of again playing the role of the merciless football predator. "I'm back," he proclaimed at Media Days. And with no sling, he's looking better than ever. - Gainesville Sun

Former UF All-American middle linebacker Brandon Spikes paid quite a compliment to linebacker Ventrell Miller on Twitter after Saturday's win, posting that Miller is going to be a better No. 51 at Florida than he was. "Definitely honored," said Miller, who recorded 15 tackles against Ole Miss and was named the SEC defensive player of the week. "I know some of the guys sent it to me and what was said, definitely an honor that he felt that way. So, definitely good for me."

Miller said he met Spikes last season and has seen numerous highlights of his UF career, including his monster hit against Georgia running back Knowshon Moreno early in the 2008 UF-UGA game. "Yeah, he actually was coming to the games last year, so he used to coach us up on the sidelines and stuff like that," Miller said. "So it was definitely good for him to send that to me. Music to my ears. "That highlight reel play of him and Knowshon Moreno, I saw that's what they were comparing my hit to. That's something they have around The Swamp, just playing. They have those videos of the old Gator greats in the locker room just playing. You get a chance to see what the old Gator greats were doing." - Times Union
