 Kofi Wardlow, Charlotte, Player News

The 49ers are not short on new faces this season. Multiple Power Five transfers made immediate impacts in the spring game, starting with safety Jon Alexander intercepting James Foster's first pass. Foster turned the ball over twice on the day with the interception and a fumbled snap in the red zone. Kofi Wardlow, a defensive end transfer from Notre Dame, made his presence felt with a sack, fumble recovery and multiple quarterback hurries. Wardlow is making a strong case to start with Markees Watts as the defensive end combo. - Central Michigan Life

Career backup defensive end Kofi Wardlow announced his transfer to Charlotte this weekend via Twitter, almost two months after entering the transfer portal. The 6-2, 250-pound senior from Washington, D.C., saw cameos in three games during his three-plus seasons at ND, and made one career tackle. Charlotte (2-4 in 2020), is a member of Conference USA. The 49ers struggled mightily with COVID-19, having only one of their eight canceled/postponed games successfully rescheduled and played, and only getting in one game after Halloween. - South Bend Tribune
