The quarterback room at Colorado State took a big hit in depth this week. Boston College transfer Matt Valecce is out for the season after suffering a "lower body injury," coach Steve Addazio said after Saturday's scrimmage at Canvas Stadium. Valecce was injured in practice this week. He was brought in as someone with three seasons of college experience to push Todd Centeio for the starting job and provide a dose of experience in a backup role in a young QB room. Valecce, a 6-foot-5, 225 pound redshirt junior, played sparingly in six games in one season during his three years at Boston College and completed just 3 of 7 passes for 18 yards. "We've got to worry about our backup quarterback situation right now," Addazio said. "The young guys, they're look ing good, but they're young guys. Former Boston College quarterback Matt Valecce, who threw for more than 10,000 yards in his high school career, said Monday he will transfer to Colorado State for his final two seasons of college football. Valecce, 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds, appeared in si x games at Boston College in 2019, completing 3 of 7 passes for 27 yards. Valecce announced his commitment on Twitter. He becomes the fifth player from Boston College's program to follow former Eagles coach Steve Addazio to Fort Collins. Offensive lineme n Cam Reddy, Elijah Johnson and Adam Korutz transferred to CSU a year ago and started for the Rams in the COVID-19-abbreviated 2020 season.
