  2022 ALL-MISSOURI VALLEY FOOTBALL HONORABLE MENTION: DB Kyriq McDonald,...McDonald finished his senior season with 40 tackles, including 20 solos, six passes defended and five pass break-ups. The Bears co-captain had four total tackles and a pair of pass break-ups in MSU's home win over Youngstown State on Nov. 12 and snagged an interception in the season finale at Indiana State on Nov. 19. He also logged six total tackles and four solos at North Dakota on Oct. 1. The 2022 Preseason All-MVFC first team honoree was also a preseason All-American and earned All-MVFC honorable mention laurels last season after being a second-team All-MVFC candidate in 2020-21. - Missouri State Football

  SEPT 6 MISSOURI VALLEY FOOTBALL NOTABLE PERFORMANCE: S Kyriq McDonald, Missouri State - McDonald registered 10 total stops to set the pace for a Missouri State defense that allowed just three first downs and 120 total yards in the second half in Saturday's narrow 23-16 loss at Oklahoma State. McDonald had 6 solo stops, a tackle for loss, a pass break-up and a forced fumble that ultimately led to a MSU scoring drive in the third quarter. The Bears defense forced Oklahoma State into six punts in eight second-half possessions -- including four three-and-out series -- plus a fumble turnover in a dominant second-half effort to bring MSU back into the game. - Missouri Valley Football

  MARCH 15 MISSOURI VALLEY FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE: DB Kyriq McDonald, Missouri State - McDonald led the Missouri State defense in Saturday's win at No. 21 South Dakota with game-highs 8 solo tackles and 11 total stops against the Coyotes. The standout defensive back brought down 5 ball carriers in the second quarter alone and was the team's play stopper on eight different passing plays, in addition to a pair of key third- and fourth-down tackles. - Missouri Valley Conference Football

  A former Alabama defensive back will be able to play right away for his new school. Kyriq McDonald, who transferred to Cincinnati, has been granted a waiver for immediate eligibility by the NCAA, it was announced Thursday. McDonald left the Crimson Tide in February. The Madison native was a contributor on special teams and a backup in the secondary as a redshirt freshman at Alabama last season. The former three-star recruit was twice recognized as one of Alabama's special teams players of the week. - Birmingham News
