Ryan Young ran for two third-quarter touchdowns and Fara'ad McCombs returned a kickoff 48 yards for a score as Columbia rolled past Cornell, 45-22 on Saturday afternoon to win the Empire State Bowl. Columbia held a 14-7 lead at the half and the teams com bined to score 32 points in the fourth quarter. Joey Giorgi carried 17 times for 91 yards to lead the Lions (6-4, 3-4 Ivy). Young added another 56 yards on 17 carries. Caden Bell completed 11 of 17 passes for 231 yards and a touchdown. Jameson Wang threw for 196 yards, completing 17 of 32 for three touchdowns with an interception, and led the Cornell (5-5, 2-5) ground game with 70 yards on 16 carries. - Columbia/AP College Football

Columbia won at Harvard for the first time since 1995, blocking back-to-back field goal attempts, tipping another and scoring a go-ahead two-point conversion to beat the Crimson 21-20 on Saturday. Harvard turned the ball over on downs at the Lions' 32 an d, after holding Columbia (4-4, 1-5 Ivy League) to a three-and-out, drove 55 yards to the Columbia 25 with 1:17 left. Jonah Lipel's 42-yard field goal attempt was tipped and hit an upright. Earlier, Scott Valentas blocked a 24-yard field goal attempt to end the third quarter, and Seth Parker blocked a 49-yard attempt early in the fourth.Caden Bell led the Lions on an eight play, 40-yard drive he capped with a 25-yard touchdown pass to Luke Painton. Alex Felkins kicked the extra point, but Harvard (5-3, 3-2) was off-side, Columbia decided to go for the 2-point conversion and Bell found Ryan Young on a screen pass at the goal line for the 21-20 lead. Joe Green threw for three touchdowns and Columbia beat Brown 23-17 on Saturday in a game delayed an hour due to rain. Columbia (6-3, 3-3 Ivy League) clinched its third winning season in the last four years. Green was 12-of-22 passing for 176 yards and Ry an Young totaled 126 all-purpose yards - 60 receiving and 66 rushing. Columbia tied it at 14 when Green scrambled to his right and found Young down the sidelines for a 60-yard touchdown. Alex Felkins' 42-yard field goal early in the fourth gave Columbia a two-possession lead. The Columbia defense held Brown, averaging 30.9 points per game, to a season low for points and passing yards. Columbia forced three turnovers, two fumbles and an interception, and compiled its second highest tackles-for-loss on th e year with 12. Ryan Young ran for 98 yards and a touchdown to help Columbia roll past St. Francis (PA) 31-14 on Saturday. Ty Lenhart threw for 101 yards and also ran for a score for the Lions (1-0) in their season opener. Columbia trailed 7-0 early when Young broke for a 65-yard touchdown run on first down to even it up with 11:08 left in the first quarter. St. Francis answered with another touchdown on a 74-yard pass from Jason Brown but Lenhart's touchdown run tied it up again with 1:32 left in the quarter.Th e Lions took the lead for good midway through the second quarter on a 1-yard TD run by Mike Roussos, taking a 21-14 advantage into halftime. Freshman Alex Felkins kicked a 50-yard field goal late in the third quarter and Roussos capped the scoring late i n the fourth with a 56-yard punt return for a touchdown with 6:03 remaining.
